• The new Labor Code was adopted effective 1 February 2002 .
• Normal working hours in Russia are 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week with a one hour lunch break .
• Russian law is stringent in limiting overtime hours .
• Under the Russian labor law it is normal for an employment contract to be for an indefinite term.
• Employees are entitled to be warned about the forthcoming lay-off at least two months in advance .
• There are norms fixed by law for working hours. The work week in Russia is 40 hours. Minors are entitled to shorter work weeks, 36 hours for 16 to 18 years old, 24 hours for 15-16 years old.

• The minimum wage in Russia is currently RUB 7126 per month($255). The new Labor Code is expected to bring the minimal official wage to the level of the minimal necessary monthly income.
