A NATURAL EXPERIENCE

State Parks

With roots traceable to the French explorers of the 1600s, four local state parks – Lake Dardanelle, Mount Nebo, Mount Magazine and Petit Jean – each offer a beauty all their own. Plan a day trip or an overnight visit and enjoy the hiking, fishing, swimming and park interpretation offered at these unique locations. Lake Dardanelle, a 34,300-acre reservoir located along the Arkansas

River, has elevated the valley to national status as a location for major bass fishing tournaments on both the professional and collegiate levels. The nearby 1,861 square-foot fishing tournament weigh-in pavilion is world class; the adjacent tournament staging area was the first of its kind in the entire nation.

State Parks

Adjacent park sites at Russellville and Dardanelle provide nearly 100 camp sites, boat ramps, pavilions, picnic areas and bathhouses with restrooms and hot showers. The 10,527-square-foot Lake Dardanelle Visitor’s Center

found at the Russellville site is fun for kids of all ages. It informs guests about

the park, the area’s water sources and surrounding history through state-of-the-art kiosks, fascinating four aquariums and interpretive exhibits.
