Vision, Mission and Values Statements

We envision to be recognized as a pillar of the District Rotaract

Organization and the Rotary International.

Vision

Our motto: “Fellowship… Leadership… Service…” guides us to do things B.I.G:

Brotherhood. The foundation and the binding spirit that keeps the members together. We think and care for each other . We do our best to make everyone feel that our club is also their home. That feeling of belongingness builds trust – a big factor that naturally brings out the best in each of us.

Inspiration. The many opportunities to serve and to build good relationship with our local and international communities are our inspirations to model the character of true “Change Makers.” This principle influences, not just us, but also other leaders to bring out their best to selflessly serve and touch the lives of others.

Giving. We give what we have – with our best at all times. We share our talents, skills, financial resources and our most valuable time to reach out to those who are in need. It is in giving that we find satisfaction in life and it is giving that our fellowship was formed.

To uphold the Objectives and Goals of the District Rotaract Organization and the Rotary International through developing projects that focus on 5 the 5 avenues of service: Community

Service, International Relationships, Leadership and Vocational programs, Club Service, and Youth Development.

the story behind…

History

“We were 3 college friends in Cebu Institute of Technology (now CIT – University):

Shiran Niño Ybanez, Clint Beethoven Tan and me. We met at Greenwich, Mango Avenue, Cebu, recalled some interesting memories and talked about our fun times in College, most especially our experiences as part of Rotaract

in CIT. Shiran was the Past President then; Clint ,the Past Vice President; and me, a Honorary Member.

Along our discussion, we talked about how to continue the service that we

did during College days and decided in forming a Community Based club under the Rotary club of Metro Cebu, since they do not have a Community

Based club yet during that time.

We wanted a Community Based club that is open to young professionals and graduates. Patterned after the Sponsoring Rotary Club, that

membership is done by invitation only, we gathered our friends together to come up with 15 members. We then created our cub constitution and by-

laws and presented them to the mother club in one of their meetings.

The Rotary Club of Metro Cebu welcomed the idea and decided to hold our induction within their meeting and so, on the evening of October 16, 1996, the Rotaract Club of Metro Cebu – Community Based Club was established

and the first batch of officers and members were inducted.”

Time has been a witness on how the club has transitioned from the started to its full blossom – and the beauty of its continuous transformation. Since then, the Rotaract Club of Metro Cebu – Community Based became one of the strongest Rotaract Club in Service, Leadership and Fellowship. Having been in service for over a decade, the club takes its pride for being coined: the Club of Past Presidents. Hence, the Club earned much respect from the succeeding generations of Rotaract Clubs in Cebu and in District 3860.

The Club marked another milestone when its members were awarded with: “Isang Dekadang Paglilingkod” (A Decade of Service) during the District Conference held at the Cebu Provincial Capitol Social Hall, Cebu City on May 2011. The members took pride as they accepted their Medal – a well deserved token for the hardships, talents, skills and time they dedicated to the District Rotaract Organization and the Rotary International. But beyond the honor they received, the said awarding ceremony served as an inspiration to the new generation of Rotaractors to continue to faithfully share their contributions for the success of the organization.

History

On the same year, the club fulfilled the main objective of Rotaract by endorsing a full blown new Rotary Member – the only remaining charter member of the Rotaract Club of Metro Cebu – Community Based, Vera “Bing” Cruz who was inducted during the 33rd Induction and Turn-Over Ceremonies of the Rotary Club of Metro Cebu at Casino Español, Cebu City on July 15, 2011.

The Club went International by sending Past President Marc Vincent P. Apatan to the 8th Asia Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference held in Subic, Pampanga on September 29, 2011. The club’s participation to the said International event opened a lot of opportunities for the club to establish business networks with other clubs within the Asia Pacific Region. The first network that was established was with Rotaract Club of Bali Ubud, Indonesia, District 3400 and the Rotaractors from District 3790 who were the host of the Conference.

History

The year was capped by the first successful joint

project with its new Sister Club, the Rotaract Club of National University of Singapore, District 3310.

On December 23-25, the clubs conducted an outreach project entitled, “Gasa sa Pasko” (A

Christmas Present). The project was composed of three series of programs; donation of learning

materials in Brgy. Sawang Calero Supervised Neighborhood Play (SNP), Christmas Party and

donation of grocery items to the Missionaries of the Poor, and Christmas Party with the less

fortunate children of the same Barangay.

Beyond the fulfillment of being able to share something to the less fortunate during Christmas,

what made the it more memorable was the strengthened friendship and international

relationships between both clubs.
