KN have been enjoying making up stories based on
Aboriginal symbols that have been put onto our
Storytelling Stones. Each stone has a symbol often
found in Indigenous art and they allow KN to use their
imaginations and share stories with others.
Troy’s story: There was once a
waterhole and there was a man
walking. There was a possum that
was the man’s pet. The possum
fell into the waterhole and then
the man also fell into the
waterhole. Then someone threw a
boomerang into the waterhole and
it got the man and the possum out
of the water.
Keigan’s story: Once
there was the sun and
then somebody threw a
boomerang. It knocked
the sun into the
waterhole with a big
splash!

On Monday 20th August, Rose Bay Public School will be holding the World Cup Sport-a-thon.
How does the event work? All students come to school dressed for the event on Monday morning, 20 August. After roll call, each class will participate in 13 different sporting activities at stations set up in the playground. The event finishes at 11am and classes resume after recess.
The children can dress as their favourite sport star, in their favourite World Cup team’s colours, or in their team’s jersey/t-shirt. Running shoes, a hat, sunscreen and appropriate clothes for sport are essential.
How does the fundraiser work? Each student will receive a Sport-a-thon sponsorship booklet to sign up family, friends and neighbours. On the morning of the event, athletes bring in their Sport-a-thon booklets for stamping. After the event, sponsorship booklets will be returned to students to take home for money collection.
We have two draws, one for $30 and one for $100. There are also awesome prizes for the top money earners including vouchers, sports packs, football jerseys and MANY MORE!
Where is the money going? This year we are aiming to raise funds for the school’s technology programs that will benefit every student. ALL the money raised from the event goes directly towards helping our children. Previously funds raised at the event have been used to purchase laptops, iPads and new desktop PCs for the computer lab. As the school’s major annual fundraiser, we hope you will generously support this event.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! We would love your assistance on the morning from 9.00am-11am to help run the activity stations. If you can help, please email your name, child’s name and class to [email protected]
Many thanks in advance to the parents and students for their involvement in this very special event.
