What a 2015! The people, places and brides we have met who live and love Wyoming has been amazing. When RMB is on the road, we find ourselves chatting with people whose hearts are in this great state, and it makes us swoon with excitement.

After becoming close to those we work with and seeing so much of what the state has to offer we get to enjoy watching as others go through the same moments of amazement. We were part of the Rendevzous Retreat this past June, put together by the talented Carrie Patterson Photography. Around 15 talented women were gathered in a field and we saw in each of them the joy of experiencing the beauty around them. For most, this was their first time in Wyoming, it was wonderful to see their faces light up at the Teton sunset and imagine how beautiful our wedding here our.

This fall and winter magazine was put together with the idea that Wyoming is an amazingly beautiful state with so much to offer brides! Our Jackson Hole shoot highlighted the emerging urban culture in an iconic western town, and to seek out the unexpected! The top of a parking garage ended up boasting the best 360 view of Jackson! We at RMB are so excited to share these stories and ideas with you, and to help you fall in love with Wyoming for your wedding destination.

“It was a celebration of our union, the joining of our families, friends and the US of A through BBQ, barn dance, band, bonfire, mountains and whiskey. As a Washington

apple, it was important for me to celebrate the agriculture that is so vital to both Washington State and Georgia, where my fiancé is from. I graduated from Wash-ington State University and we are also both graduates of the Ag College at the

University of Georgia. Our wedding had many personal elements (which was very hard since we now live in Singapore). It took the help of every guest, especially our

family, to pull it off. I can honestly say, it was the best day of my life.”

“I had always wanted a beach wedding, but when I started dating a rancher from Texas, I knew that my sandy dream would never be a realistic option with his busy summer schedule. If it was going to be a

winter wedding, it just had to be Jackson, Wyoming. He had taken me there for my birthday in July and I fell in love with everything about the town...the breath-taking views, wild animals, the great food, amazing weather, and the people. It made perfect sense to get married to the man of my dreams in a place so magical. It was the most beautiful, intimate and romantic day of my life, spent with the most incredible

people. I wouldn’t trade my Jackson winter wedding for any beach in the world.”

Erin & Chad moose

Erin and Chad met at a winter bonfire at Chad’s house in Etna. Sparks flew that night and the two became inseparable. Around a year and a half later, Erin and Chad planned a trip back to Washington State, where Erin grew up, to visit the San Juan

Islands. Chad thought this would be the perfect time to propose, so with the help of her lifelong-friend Sarah, they planned the proposal for Reube Tart Park. They were seal watching when Chad asked Erin to walk up the hill to “spot the seals better.”

Erin declined, as she was wearing heels, but Chad finally got her to come with him, and when she turned around, he was on one knee with his mother’s ring, which he

had redesigned. The two planned an August 30th western soiree for their friends and family, complete with a huge teepee reception tent and cowbell-clad grand exit!

Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming rockymountainbride.com 25

Page 28: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Fall 2015

The Theme: Being Jackson natives, Erin and Chad chose a rustic, mountain-chic wedding design. They used the incredible Teton backdrop, a fabulous teepee event tent and a natural color palette mixed with metal hues to create their look.

The Dress: “I tried on every dress in Southern California with my mom and sister and picked the first one I tried on in Camarillo, CA. I wanted lace. It was a beautiful, delicate ivory lace with a champagne-colored underlay. I’m short and accustomed to wearing short lengths. So, I changed into a short Nicole Miller ivory lace dress later in the night when we cut the cake.”

The Flowers: When it came to the floral, Erin had an idea of colors and textures she wanted. She told her florist, Fleur de V, that she loves sage, lavender and succulents mixed with leather, and with that she ended up with a look she loved. Hop vines, a mix of white and taupe roses, wax flower, scabiosa, wild grasses, sage leaves, white zinnias and succulents were used in the wedding design.

Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming26 rockymountainbride.com

Page 29: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Fall 2015

The Favorite Detail: “Impossible to choose one! My top 5: the historic chapel on Jackson Lake, the band, delicious food, teepee tents, and every-thing designed and printed by Bird and Buffalo!”

The Food: Erin and Chad still rave about the food from Bistro Catering! For cocktail hour, guests noshed on marinated venison beef skewers, Mead Ranch beef tartare on homemade potato chips, smoked salmon potato latkes, cheddar shortbread with country ham and apple chutney, and pan roasted shishito peppers. Dinner was served family style and consisted of crusted beef tenderloin and chicken-fried chicken (the couple’s favorite!), paired with caesar salad, twice-baked potatoes, mac and cheese, and cheddar biscuits.

Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “We had envisioned a beautiful Jackson Hole summer day. Mother nature gave us weather. During the blast of thunder and lightning during our ceremony, Fr. Randy was standing at the altar and looked over at us and said, ‘listen, the angels are clapping!’ It was perfect timing and made everyone laugh.”

The Sweets: “Our favorite part of planning: the cake tasting! Persephone Bakery did an amazing job. We picked red velvet cake that looked like a rustic Aspen tree on the outside. It was incredible. Persephone also made s’mores for guests to take with them at the end of the night.”

Advice for RMB Brides: “Have a solid weather backup plan for every aspect of your day. “

Karissa & Kelly jackson

Karissa and Kelly call Jackson their home - Karissa owns Apres Visuals, and Kelly manages Cabin & Co.

The two met when Dustin, a mutual friend, invited his “friend Kelly” to Vail on Karissa’s family ski trip. After a day full of “ski flirting” and catching each other’s

eye, they began a two-and-a-half years, cross-country courtship where Kelly stood by Karissa’s side as she started her first corporate job across the country,

dealt with the immeasurable grief of losing her little brother Michael, and surviving a life-threatening

mountain bike accident. Kelly proposed on Christmas day 2013 in front of all the people he holds dear, and the two set out to plan a fabulous fall wedding. On September 20th, Karissa and Kelly celebrated their love for each other in true Jackson style. We are so excited and honored to share their wedding day!

Congrats!! xoxo, The RMB Team

Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming32 rockymountainbride.com

Page 35: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Fall 2015

The Theme: Working in the wedding industry, Karissa had oodles of ideas for her special day, so she decided to let Kendra with Simply Grand Events create her dream fall wedding, The couple wanted their day to have unexpected details of fall and within the color wheels of lavender, plum, burgundy and champagne. Kendra, along with Lauren from Someday Soon Events planned the whole design and the couple got to see it for the first time that day - talk about a first look!

The Dress: Karissa went on the hunt for her dream gown in Denver, then San Diego, where she found a lovely white dress she thought she loved. After seeing it again in alterations and trying to convince herself that she loved it, it, she found the confidence to sell it two weeks before the wedding in order to find a dress that truly reflected her vision. Karissa ordered six gowns from BHLDN, had her girlfriends come over, and they spent the night sipping champagne and trying on dresses. They chose the last one, a stunning blush-corseted gown with a big tulle skirt! She had a heart sewn in the inside of her skirt in rememberence of her brother.

The Flowers: “For the ceremony, our good friend created planters out of the barn wood from the old fence behind our house to line the entire aisle. Lauren filled the planters with wild Wyoming grasses. She also designed the bouquets, boutonnieres, and flower arrangements all without my knowledge, as it was part of the surprise! We loved the wild and natural elements she chose and the unexpected flowers, rich fruits and vegetables. My sister and dad collected fall leaves and attached them to the programs we made, and as Kelly and I walked back down the aisle, our guests threw the leaves. It was such an incredible moment.”

Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming rockymountainbride.com 33

Page 36: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Fall 2015

The Favorite Detail: “My favorite detail would have to be all the detail for and time we focused on the ceremony. We wanted the ceremony to be personal and a testament to the love we have for our families, friends, and for each other. We incorporated the memory of my younger brother in many special and subtle ways - his t-shirt was sewn into my dress, my sister performed the Celtic hand fasting ceremony and wrapped our hands in woven strands of his favorite t-shirt, and we walked back down the aisle to one of his favorite songs, “Send Me On My Way” by Rusted Root. Kelly and I pieced together and wrote the ceremony, which my uncle officiated; he even wrote his own piece, which he kept as a surprise. Our siblings and best friends recited special readings as a tribute to our families. We kept our vows as a surprise to each other and reciting them made the ceremony truly unforgettable for both of us.”

The Food: Café Genevieve served up a divine family-style dinner for guests. Karissa loves chicken, beef and salmon - to this day, she can’t decide which is her favorite, so she served all three on her wedding day!

The Sweets: Karissa chose chococlate chip cookies as her sweet treat! She paired them with a dessert bar filled with macaroons and cupcakes!

Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “Picking a favorite moment would be difficult. Kelly’s vows, walking back down the aisle with yellow leaves falling all around us, our family’s toasts, our first and last dance were all pretty magical, but I think my favorite might be how thoughtful Kelly had been with organizing where we would stay the night of our wedding. Kelly and I exited to an exciting sparkler dis-play, and then he whisked me away in a golf cart to a glamping tent he organized with his company. I didn’t know what to expect when he suggested we camp close by the wedding site, and I couldn’t be-lieve how beautiful it all was. Sitting on the floor of a huge, beautiful, glowing tent drinking champagne with him and recounting the night was so fun. We just couldn’t believe how well it had all gone. Waking up to sit outside in the big, comfy outdoor chairs to look out over the Snake River while also sipping coffee the next morning was unforgettable.”

Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming34 rockymountainbride.com

Page 37: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Fall 2015

Advice for RMB Brides: “There are three things you need to have for a wedding: a groom, an officiant and a dress. For Kelly and I, in addition to those things, we chose to focus on the ceremony, how to incorporate our families, and having great local vendors we could trust to do what they do well. For the week-end we did our best to be in the moment and have so much fun. Everyone will follow your lead: if you are having a great time, everyone else will as well.”

Sarah & Joe sheridan

Sarah and Joe met in 2007 while attending Augsburg College, a small school nestled in the big city of Minne-apolis. After meeting at a social event, their relationship quickly grew into a connection of deep understanding and love. Before they knew it, they were planning their dream wedding in Wyoming - a place that both Joe and Sarah love. They became husband and wife on July 14th,

and celebrated with their closest friends and family!

The Theme: Sarah and Joe planned a formal, pure white wedding with French Baroque adornments. The gents wore black and the ladies wore shades of metallic neutrals.

The Dress: “I always envisioned myself in a highly embellished dress because I love sparkle! The first dress I chose was a large, princess, tulle dress with no embellishment at all. It was the first dress I tried on and I felt so beautiful and happy - I didn’t want to take it off ! It was a wonderful moment, one I will not soon forget.”

The Flowers: The couple chose ivory roses to create their white, whimsey wedding. Sarah loves the elegance and timelessness of roses and these qualities helped to capture the formal theme of the ceremony. Her bouquet was custom made and incorporated her deceased father’s sapphire class ring and maternal grandmother’s blue jeweled necklace. Sarah tells us that “it was so special to run my finger through my father’s class ring during the ceremony. It comforted me that he was there and part of our special day.”

The Favorite Detail: “Most brides dream of their father walking them down the aisle and giving them away. That dream of mine was set to rest when my father passed away in 2009. My favorite wedding detail was the love and support provided to me by the men who most embodied the spirit and love of my father. I was honored to be walked down the aisle by two of his best friends, and two of the most influential men in my life, Marcus York and Steve Consoer.”

The Sweets: Sarah and Joe had a three-tiered white cake with satin ivory ribbon and cascading ivory roses. Sarah tells us that it was absolute-ly beautiful and what she had always dreamed of! Guests also got to enjoy gourmet chocolate cupcakes, a sweet treats bar, and a gourmet custom s’mores bar with individually arranged combinations that were special to the bride and groom.

The Food: Sarah and Joe made sure their guests received the black tie treatment at their wedding! Once entering the Manor, guest were welcomed with champagne while waiting for the ceremony. Cocktail hour featured the couple’s favorite salmon dish from The Jersey Lily, located in Montana. For dinner, they served grilled-to-order steak, asparagus, and a salad recipe from a lifelong family friend. The steak was garnished with béarnaise and mushrooms while asparagus was topped with grilled sliced almonds.

Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “The change that occurred once we said I do. With those words, we became a family. There was an enchanting, lifelong peace granted to us in that moment.”

Advice for RMB Brides: “My advice to all Rocky Mountain Brides, the wedding is the beginning of something larger. During the months leading up to your wedding, it can be easy to become consumed by the stress of the big day. Focus on the commitment you are making. Make your day as beautiful as the marriage you are committing to and you cannot go wrong. May your wedding be all you’ve dreamed of and your marriage much more. “

Meaghen & Michael casper

Meaghen and Michael’s love story began in high school. The summer before Michael left to attend the University

of Wyoming, the two re-connnected and fell in love. A few years later, Michael rented out the top floors of the Clock Tower in downtown Denver for the night and proposed

to Meaghen on her 21st birthday. Being from Casper, they couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate their love with friends and family! The two planned their backyard soiree for June 14th - complete with all the people they love and

one heck of a dance party!

Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming rockymountainbride.com 45

Page 48: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Fall 2015

The Theme: Meaghen and Michael planned a shabby-chic, backyard BBQ wedding. They worked with a palette of peach, coral, and mint to create their bright and beautiful day.

The Dress: “Lace, lace, lace. That was my only criteria and I found the perfect one. Open in the back, ivory in color to have a rustic feeling, and and I wanted sleeves so there would be no issues while dancing. When I added the veil and belt, it was absolute perfection.”

The Flowers: Roses, baby breath, dusty miller and succulents were used to create Meaghen’s rustic wedding design. All the succulents were replanted after the weddng as a way to remember the day! Guests also received potted succulent favors from the bride and groom.

The Favorite Detail: Meaghen’s cousins played an instrumental version of “Cherry” by Ratatat on the violin and keyboard while she walked down the aisle. She tells us it was breathtaking!

Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming46 rockymountainbride.com

Page 49: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Fall 2015

The Sweets: The couple served a three-tier cake filled with pound cake, vanilla buttercream and caramel sauce, and lemon cake with blueberry buttercream. The cake was adorned with gorgeous coral and peach roses! Meaghen’s aunt also made her favorite sweet treat, lemon bars, and her mom made her famous brownies. They also served cream puffs because they are delish!

The Food: “We picked a bunch of our favor-ite foods and we had a lot of family members and friends pitch in labor-wise. My parents made amazing smoked pulled pork and chicken with some homemade BBQ sauce, green chili mac and cheese, and pork n’ beans. Michael’s mom is from the Philippines so we also had a huge layout of Filipino food, which included egg rolls, coconut shrimp, pork skewers, a noodle dish called pancit, and more.”

Mr. and Mrs. Moment: Meaghen and Michael have two! They reminisced and laughed the next morning over breakfast about how perfect and fun their wedding turned out and the weather luck they had with their ceremony! Meaghen tells us that “the night before the wedding, it poured rain and the day of was gloomy, cold, and windy. Five minutes before the ceremony started, the sky cleared, the sun came out, and the wind stopped blowing. Although this was technically before we were Mr. and Mrs., it seemed like a huge blessing from the universe and was completely surreal.”

Advice for RMB Brides: “Don’t be a bridez-illa. Seriously. The day of the wedding there will be nothing you can do about anything that goes wrong, so relax, be flexible and remember the big picture. You are getting married and all of your friends and family are there to celebrate with you, so have fun!”

Michele & Derek laramie

Michele and Derek met at a work conference in Rocky Springs - not the typical place you find the love of your life! Michele’s boss had known Derek for a while and kept tell-ing her they should meet! At the end of the night, Michele’s boss spotted Derek, made the intro, and the rest is history. The two decided to plan a hometown wedding in Laramie at the University of Wyoming’s Wildcatter Stadium Club,

and on May 23rd, they became a family with Michele’s two boys, Max and Mason.

Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming rockymountainbride.com 73

Page 76: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Fall 2015

The Theme: Michele and Derek planned their spring wedding to be casual and elegant. They wanted the room to feel lovely and welcoming for all of their guests! The color palette was ivory, nude, blush, and pink, which was the perfect complement to her romantic style!

The Dress: “I chose a Maggie Sottero strapless mermaid gown in champagne, with lace overlay. I love the fashion from the 1920’s and this dress reminded me of that era – elegant, but fun.”

The Flowers: Michele chose ranunculus, roses and peonies as her main floral components. She wanted the flowers and centerpieces to ultra-feminine and elegantly romantic.

The Favorite Detail: “Having one of my oldest and dearest friends officiate the ceremony; it made the vows warm, funny and personal.”

Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming74 rockymountainbride.com

Page 77: Rocky Mountain Bride Wyoming Fall 2015

The First Dance: The newlyweds swayed to “All of Me” by John Legend for their first dance as husband and wife. They chose the song because it was the song that came on the radio right after Derek proposed to Michele. Talk about perfect timing!

The Food: The couple chose a menu of Italian for their wedding. Michele and Derek love pasta and all things Italian, so it was the perfect fit. For cocktail hour, guests were served bruschetta. Dinner began with a caesar salad, followed by chicken pomadoro and shrimp scampi over fettuccine - delicioso!

The Sweets: Keeping true to their love of Italian, the couple chose a tiramisu-inspired cake with vanilla latte frosting.

Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “Just before the ceremony at the Wildcatter, Derek and I got a moment together alone. It was nice just to be able to take a minute to focus on each other before exchanging our vows in front of family and friends. Really special!”
