Other Fun Things

Play Robot Says! Using a flashlight, when the light is on, the kids are robots

and must do what the lead robot says. When the flashlight is

off, the kids must remain still and ignore robot instructions.

If someone moves when the light is off, he is out.

Potato Print Robots

What you need:

Large baking potatoes

Plastic knives and forks

Tempera or acrylic paint in red, yellow, and blue

Paper plates

Construction paper

Sequins, googly eyes, etc.

1) Adult cuts potato in half lengthwise.

2) Adult carves shapes out of the insides, such as triangles,

squares, etc.

3) Put a splat of paint on a paper plate.

4) Press potato stamps into paints and press on paper to

create robots.

5) While the paint is wet, stick googly eyes and sequins on

the robots.

6) Older children can carve their own shapes with plastic

knives and forks.

Robot Math I had one robot; he was blue. Another robot came and that makes two. 1+1=2 Two friendly robots playing with me, One more came and that makes three. 2+1=3 Three robots playing and running through the door, All together that makes four. 3+1=4 Four little robots playing with sticks, Two joined them and that makes six. 4+2=6 Six little robots playing in the sun, Five were called to dinner and that makes one. 6-5=1 One little robot feeling so sad, I joined him for ice cream and now he’s glad.

The Lights on the Robot (Tune: The Wheels on the Bus)

The lights on the robot go On and off, On and off, On and off. The lights on the robot go on and off, All day long.

Additional verses: The arms on the robot go up and down. The feet on the robot go clickety, clack. The antennas on the robot go wiggle, wiggle, wiggle.

I’m a Little Robot (Tune: I’m a Little Teapot)

I’m a little robot, short and strong, Here are my handles, just turn me on. (put fists on hips for handles, then push your sticker “button”) When I get all warmed up, watch me go. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow. (march in place fast and then slow)
