CIVILCONCRETE RMC PLANT SITE VISIT

40 interns from Infratek Engineering Consultancy visited Knjiramkulam Highway Project. Via-duct construction Piling and Soil nailing works have been going on the site in connection with the highway work. The students also visited Machel Ready Mix Concrete site to learn about the plant works and how the concrete is mixed and trans­ported to construction site.

SPECIAL CLASS ON BIM

Intercad conducted an'lntroduction to BIM’ for S5 and S7 Civil students on 5th Sep 20 18 .The programme was organized by Civil Engineering Department. Month long immersion BIM classes are going on currently for the alumni in the computer lab.

Final year students from ECE department visited the Optical Lab in University College Karyavattom on 4th October 20 1 8. Ass.Prof.Titto Anujan from ECE department organized the learning trip and accompanied them.

ONE WEEK INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

ECE faculty owned company Agni conducted an one week internship pro­gram on PCB Design, Etching and fabrication. 1 8 students from S3 ECE at­tended the internship. They fam iliarised with the traditional process as well as the state of the art pcb printing machine. Agni is Trinity’s first all woman faculty startup. Asst Professors Anu, G ayath ri and Nishi are the partners in the company. Agni focusses on embedded systems development and training. This was the final internship conducted on campus for the summer. The internships by Trinity campus companies attracted more than 25 0 stu­dents across all branches. a

16 Students of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) de­partment, along with faculty members Asst. Prof. Sabitha A R , Asst. Prof. Yamuna M Nair and Technical supervisor Mr. Sujin J S visited flood affected areas in Aranmula section of KSEB on 30th Ausust 2018 .The team along with KSEB officials conducted a wiring inspection of around 50 houses . As a part of Mission Re­connect the team assembled a single point distribution board at the KSEB office and installed the same to 5 houses in that area where rewiring was not possible. KSEBL congratulated the team on their effort and contribution to the flood rehabilitation pro­cess. The experience was invaluable for the budding engineer volunteers. Trinity team hopes to continue the service in the coming weekends as well. v

INTERNSHIP FOR TAMILNADU ENGINEERING STUDENTS

Robotic Total Station class was taken by A LG International Institute of Technology. The team came from Cochin. 3 2 students of Civil Engineering from AAA College of Engineering and Technology, Sivakasi attended the training as part of their one week internship taking place in Trinity under the Infratek Company. The internship will be complet­ed on July 3rd. menced today. Under the guidance of Asst.Prof. Alex

getting trained. They will also have site visits as part of

the program.

Shri. Binu K Sivaji, Cluster Head of IDBI Federal conduct­ed a session on Career Development Program for final year students. They also offered direct placements in the marketing sector.

SHORT TERM COURSE

Centre for learning and Success (CLAS) conducted a class on Introduction to G a te coaching for the final year students in civil department.

ATAL TINKERING LAB TRAINING

Our college organized a Short term course for the S5 ECE students on System Administration. The course has been conducted by Tandem and coordinated by Asst.Prof. Nishi S Das from ECE department.

Deepu Sajeev from Mechanical department and Shri.Krishnanunni (CTO of Technolodge) took the weekly ATL training for the students of Sarvo d aya V id y a la y a School, Nalanchira on 29th October 20 1 8.

SHORT TERM COURSE

Trinity has been conducting a two weeks training program on ‘On Job Training’ (OJT) for the 60 students of Govt.VHSS Paraniyam by the guidance of Asst.Prof. Vijeesh V S, Asst.Prof. Rakesh R from Electrical and Electronics Engineering department, Asst.Prof. Kannan S from Mechanical Engineering department, Lab Instructors Shri.Anil Kumar ,Shri. Sudhakaran and Lab Assistant Shri.Visakh.

TOUCHING EVERYONE’S LIFE : ELECTRONIC EXHIBITS AND GAMING

RP Tech organized an innovative program titled TO U C H IN G EVERYONE’S LIFE (TEL) on 14th November 20 1 8 at Hotel SP G rand Days. Our final year Electronics and Communication Engineering students participated in the Expo to explore the latest tech innovations. The exhibits introduced the youngsters to the latest tech gadgets and future directions of electronics industry. The students participated in the quiz competitions and won prizes.

FRESHERS ORIENTATION

Freshers of Civil Department attending Survey Lab

An orientation session was handled by our Principal Dr. Arun

Surendran. He interacted with the new comers of Trinity family.

It was an introduction to the world of engineering for them. Stu­

dents and some faculty and staff attend the full d ay session in

the auditorium. The students indulged in various activities based

on communication, creativity and group dynamics to give them

a headstart with the engineering career. Asst. Prof. Deepu from

Mechanical Department also gave an introduction to the ac­

tivities of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Cell of the col­

lege. He urged the students to set SMART goals.13

CONVOCATION CEREMONYOur principal Dr.Arun Surendran was part of the panel discussion following the convocation ceremony of ProMeX Skill trained Engineering graduates of Incatek. He spoke on the importance of hands on training when it comes to employbility. Incatek, the skill development agency that is approved by the Kerala Academ y of Skill Excellence, is the brainchild of Engineer Gopikrishnan. He had conducted pilot programs at Trinity three years ago which immensely benefitted our Mechanical Engineering students. The panel discussion held at Mascot Hotel on 25th July 2 0 1 8 was chaired by Dr. Radhakrishnan, retd faculty of NT M adras and ex-director of KTU.

Our Principal Dr. Arun Surendran was invited as the speak­er in Kerala Business Meetup organized by Kerala Meetup 4th August 2 0 18 . He spoke on the startup environment in the state and urged the budding entrepreneurs to be serious about market study before embarking on the journey. Later in the evening, the meet up concluded in the presence of Minister Kadakam palli Surendran, MLA K M uraleedharan and other dignitaries. Our IEDC faculty,Deepu Sajeev and Anand Michael attended the Meetup.

TRINITY’S PRINCIPAL @ CET SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENTOur Principal Dr.Arun Surendran interacting with the MBA freshers at CET School of Management yesterday. He delivered a keynote on Innovation Management. The event was organized by the Yuva Chapter of Young Indians. After the keynote, a panel of Yi Entrepreneurs fielded questions from the students. The “Trinity M odel” of faculty entrepreneurship and product development was discussed. The event was chaired by Dr. Suresh Sub- ramaniam, director of CET School of Management.

CONFEDERTATION OF INDIAN INDUSTRIES (CM) MEETING WITH CHIEF MINISTER SHRI PINARAYIVIJAYANIn the aftermath of the devastating floods of August, our Prinicipal Dr. Arun Surendran met with the Chief Minister of Ker- a la Shri Pinarayi V ija y a n along with the represen­tatives of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CM). Trinity College is a mem ber of the CM and Dr. Arun Surendran is the chairperson of Young Indians Triv andrum, the subsidiary of CM. Our principal met his former Chemistry teacher Mrs. Mariamma Paul, the Principal of Thalavad y Govt HSS. Mrs Mariamm Paul was teacher at St. Thomas Residential school 2 7 years ago before joining government service. Our Principal met with students from the school who are interested in pursuing engineering. Thalavad y School was a flood relief center for 500 people last month.

Asst. Prof. Jomy Joseph from Civil department gave an introduction on Co-Po mapping. The meeting was the first in the new system of faculty meet up on campus in the mornings of the first and third Saturday of every month. Since there are no regular classes, the time is used for updating of files and discussing progress of each course and batch. The meetings aim to strengthen the mentor-mentee system, remedial classes and improvement in results and G PA . The interactive session brought up several significant suggestions that are being implemented for the all round development of our students.

VISITORS ICT OFFICIALSShri Sreekumar and Shri Abhilash from the ICT Academ y of Kerala visited our campus. They held discussions with Dr. Arun Surendran and Shri Deepu Sajeev about the various incubation activities in the college. They received a guided tour of the facilities. The National Institute of Speech and Hearing, a deemed university for the differently abled in Trivandrum is planning its own business incubator. They visited Trinity Automation G a ra g e , IEDC and Trivandrum Technolodge to learn about our incubation system

and innovation culture. EXPERT VISITCEO of Acsia Technologies, Mr. Jijimon visited the campus with his team. Acsia is a reputed name in the automobile and automation embedded software sector. They were given a tour of our campus facilities. Acsia is keen on collaborating with Trinity for development of loT and Embedded Systems. They are also interested in exploring training possibilities as Trinity is a center for Govt of India’s CTTC certification as well as NT Bombay’s Spoken Tutorials. a tour of the facility . W ith three centers in the city, Myrobo is a

leading provider of robotics training for school students. It is a

woman owned startup by engineers who had successful careers in

MNCs. Our Principal is currently the honorary fellow for Robotics

with the Kera la Startup Mission. Myrobo team had discussions with

The Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) organized a product presentation d a y at the State Police H ead ­quarters. 16 Startup companies from across the state presented various products and services that may be useful for Law and O rder. The event was held in the Conference Hall at the new building of police HQ. AD GPs, IGs, AIG s, SP and Senior police officials attended the function. Dr. Sa ji Gopinath, CEO of KSUM introduced the companies. Our campus startup, Ricardo Technix, presented the latest version of the breathanalyser. The completely

Android based, nano version was introduced by Mr. Krishnanunni of ECE dept who is also the CEO of Ricardo Tech­nix. The product was very well received. EyeRO V, Beagle Cybersecurity, Traffitizer and W estG hat were amongthe other companies who presented. The event is a precursor to the Demand D ay organized by KSUM in which various government departments will present their technology demands that can then be taken up by the startups of the state. KRITIKARE ICU VENTILATOR PROJECT @ AUTOMATION GARAGE

Trinity’s Automation G a ra g e team has undertaken the exciting R&D project for an ICU Ventilator. The device originally developed by Kritikare from Chennai, is under­going an electronics and display upgrade in our labs. Earlier our team had developed an android based tab interface for the previous version of the sophisticated medical equipment. Now with our expertise in loT pro­graming and the presence of a PCB printing machine on campus, KritiKare has approached our team for upgrading the hardw are systems as well. Lead Engineer from the company is staying round the clock at our campus as the project is progressing on a tight deadline. It is led by research engineer, Shri. Krishnanunni with the support from our alumni Midhun and Pranav. Dhanas­ekhar, our research associate, is part of the team.

The Ultra Violet purifier completely removes the chemical contamination like chlorine/chloramine and fluorides, particle contamination of sa n d /s ilt/ rust/ a lg ae, biological contamination of virus, bacteria, and micro-organisms. The stages in the purification process are sand filtration, Pumbing system, Sede- ment filtration, Pre carbon filteration Uf membrane, post carbon filtration, Ultra violet treating and Flow controller system . The sample of water purified by this prototype device has been submitted to Kerala Ground water Analytical Centre for bacterial and general parameters testing. The project has been completed by Letmac team members under the guidance of Asst.Prof.Vijeesh (MD of Letmac Innovations) Once the testing results are availab le, the purifier will be adapted for distribution to flood affected areas in the state and use within the college campus.

The students, faculty and staffs who volunteered in the flood relief operations. Trinitians in huge numbers partici­pated in the collection, sorting and distribution of relief kits in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta and Alapuzha disctricts. W e will continue our rebuilding services throughout the year.Under the guidance of our Chairman Dr. Thomas Alexander, Trinity has set up a rebuilding effort team with the Principal, Rev. Fr. Trinity organized an Inter School Freedom Quiz on August 15th 2 0 1 7 to celebrate Independence D ay. Students from Govt. BOOKS FOR FLOOD AFFECTED STUDENTS

Trinity team with our Principal Dr. Arun Surendran visited three of the schools in the flood affected areas: Govt.HSS K idangara, Govt.HSS Thalavadi and St.M ary’s HSS Niranam. They distributed textbooks and library books for the plus two students. Trinity offered the students engineering education under our Sustained Support Program for flood affected areas. Trinity is ready to provide admission with full scholarship for 1 6 students from each school, 4 students in each branch. Thanks to Mrs.Sujatha, Mathematics teacher of M VHSS Arumanoor and our student Krishnakesh from S5 Mechanical Engineering for their co ordination. Special thanks to our students for contributing their old text books. Books were also collected from M ar Baselios and All Saints Colleges.

NT CERTIFICATION ONLINE EXAM

Our college organized a spoken tutorial online examination on 9th October 2 0 1 8 conducted by NT Bombay. The exam was coordinated by Asst. The students were welcomed back to the campus with the new tradition of M onday morning assembly. This will be a forum to help the entire trinity community to disseminate news, policy matters and discuss suggestions. The meet­ing is coordinated by the staff coordinators with the help of the HODs. To d ay’s meeting opened with experience sharing sessions byalumni Sajin and Srivishnu who are both flying to Muscat tomorrow morning to join Al A ldrak as mechanical engineers. They asked the students to focus on becoming good engineers and not to waste time trying for other careers. The interviews they faced tested their understanding of the fundamentals, it was truly inspiring. They stressed the importance of being well dressed and groomed. Our principal Dr. Arun Surendran discussed the importance of engineering education as Trivandrum is becoming a hub for multinational engineering giants like Nissan. Addressing the students, Rev.Fr. Popson said that students have all the freedom for growth on campus but must strictly adhere to the rules with academic focus till 4pm. Vice Principal Dr. Mettilda wished the students all the best for the upcoming semester. The tentative dates for series exam were announced. th Oct 20 1 8. In the quarter final they played against Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering and reached

the semi final. They played against Lourdes Matha College of Engineering in the semi final. For the third place,

they defeated College of Engineering Trivandrum. W e congratulate the team for the Bronze M edal. The team

was trained by Sports trainer Shri. Rajasekharan.

As part of Jalasamrithi project S6 Civil students conducted survey of the Kaduvakuzhi-Anthiyoorkonam canal in association with Haritha Keralam Mission. Our principal Dr. Arun Surendran handed over the survey report to Dr. T N Seema, the Executive Vice Chairperson of Haritha Keralam in the presence of our Vice Principal Dr M ary Mettilda Rose, Advisors Rev. Fr. Popson Kuriakose and K C Chan- drasekharan Nair. Land Revenue Commissioner Shri Nizamuddin graced the occassion. He was instrumental in coordinating the project with our college. Dr. T N Seema praised the beautiful natural campus of Trinity. She urged students to turn towards more socially impactful projects like the survey so that the society can benefit from their knowledge. The participants received certificates from civil faculty owned company Infratek Engineering Consul­tancy. After the ceremony, Dr. Seema visited our Automation G a ra g e and saw the ongoing projects. She has asked the college team to visit her office to follow up on the shredded flex reinforced concrete project.

PUNARJANI CAMP @ GOVT. AYURVEDA COLLEGE

Our NSS volunteers with NSS Coordinators Asst.Prof. Rakesh R (EEE) and Asst.Prof. Nishi S Das (ECE) attended the two d a y NSS Punarjani Cam p on 4th and 5th August 20 1 8 at Govt. Ayurveda College, Trivandrum. The students were involved in cleaning and repairing process. W e thank the team for the wonderful service rendered to the old

college and hospital. Visit to VinobaniketenOur Principal Dr. Arun Surendran visited Vinobaniketen with the Young Indians (Yi) team members as a prelude to our upcoming NSS camp during the Onam vacation. Established in the 19 50 s, the ashram was founded by Parivrija Amma, a disciple of Vinobaji. She is 93 years old now. Vinobaji had stayed in the Ashram during his Kerala visit for the Bhoodan Movement. Several eminent leaders of the nation including Jayaprakash N arayan have visited the ashram. In 20 0 5 , then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had laid the foundation for a Vishw avidya peeth on the campus. Unfortunately vari

ous factors led to the gradually slowing down of the activities. W ith the help of Trinity NSS Cam p, Young Indians Trivandrum hopes to kickstart a revival of this historically important campus in Trivandrum. 4 7

Nss volunteers Rehmath S5 Civil, Sreekutty S3 EEE, Shaiju, S3 ECE and Nandakumar, S3 Mech attended the South Zone NSS volunteer secretary meeting at Sreebudha College of Engineering, Alapuzha on 9th and 10th October 2 0 1 8 . The two d ay training program was organized by NSS Technical Cell. Students from more than 85 colleges participated the two d ay NSS camp.

NSS meeting for S3 students was held on 1 1th October 2 0 18 in our college auditorium regarding Cam p. The meeting was chaired by our Vice Principal Dr.M ary Mettilda Rose and NSS Programme O fficer Asst. Prof. Rakesh R. The students will stay in Vinobaniketan at Tholikode as part of the camp and help in cleaning up the campus and reviving its activities. Several dignitaries will be visiting the camp during Puja holidays.

NSS SEVEN DAY CAMP INAUGURATION

Our Vice Principal Dr. M ary Mettilda Rose V inaugurated the NSS Seven D ay Cam p by hoisting the NSS Flag at Trinity Campus on 15th October 2 0 18 . NSS Volunteer Sreekutty from S3 EEE gave a talk on the rules and regulation that should be followed by the volunteers in the NSS Cam p. Prof. Rakesh (EEE), Asst.Prof.Nishi S Das (ECE), Asst.Prof. Raghavan Chadrasekhar (Mech), Alumni Roshan and Sujin also accompanied the students. Along with the CII_Young Indian team our Principal Dr.Arun Surendran visited the camp. During the pooja holidays our senior students guided the renovation work of Vinobhaniketan.
