The client

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (commonly known as Coachella) is an annual three-day

music and arts festival, founded by Paul Tollett, organized by Goldenvoice (a subsidiary of AEG Live)

and held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, in the Inland Empire’s Coachella Valley. The event

features many genres of music, including rock, indie, hip hop and electronic music as well as large

sculptural art. The event has several stages-tents that have been constructed throughout the grounds, with each playing live music continuously for the duration of

the festival. The main stages are: Coachella Stage, Outdoor Theatre, Gobi Tent, Mojave Tent, and the Sahara Tent (2006 and 2011 also saw the addition of a smaller

Oasis Dome).

The project

Coachella organisers sought an access control solution that would prevent the re-sale of tickets, drastically reduce pass-backs and give event managers greater

control over the admission of their guests. ID&C collaborated with RFID system provider Intellitix to offer Coachella a contactless access solution based around

RFID-enabled wristbands. The wristbands contained microchips which linked to a database of ticket information, validating fans upon entry and replacing the need

for paper-based tickets. The custom wristbands, coupled with an RFID SmartCard gave organisers with a robust solution which provided the desired level of admis-

sion control, completely eradicated touting and dramatically reduced pass-

backs.

The product

ID&C created a bespoke RFID tag that integrated with its popular festival

wristband, creating the now commonly seen RFID cloth wristbands.

delivered an impressive RFID cloth wristband for my 3-day U.S festivals (Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits Music Festival), cuffing over 200,000 fans and crew stylishly

and comfortably. Through, sweat, wind and rain the locking clasps (Smartlock®) and RFID saddles (RFID SmartCards) worked flawlessly and securely. ID&C’s interactions

with me regarding design, production, and overseas delivery were prompt and informative. I felt as if I was their only client and they handled my last minute requests like

a champ. I would certainly recommend ID&C to other festivals and concert promoters throughout the world.”

The Isle of Wight Festival is a music festival which takes place every year on the Isle of Wight in

England. It was originally held from 1968 to 1970.

The 1970 event was by far the largest and most famous of these early festivals and the unexpectedly

high attendance levels led, in 1971, to Parliament passing the “Isle of Wight Act” preventing gatherings

of more than 5,000 people on the island without a special licence.

The project

10,000 Vodafone customers were chosen to use new radio frequency technology (RFID) wristbands to make cashless transactions for food and drinks throughout the site.

They were attached to the Isle Of Wight Festival entry wristbands and could be loaded with funds from the wristband holder’s debit card. The wristbands could be used

to purchase food and drink through the festival site, with a maximum transaction spend of £20. Customers also had the option to subscribe for an ‘auto top up’ function

which re-loaded the wristband to an amount specified by the user once the remaining balaence had reached £20. A maximum of 3 reloads were allowed per day with an

overall maximum load of £200 per day. This signified a completely cashless experience.

The product ID&C supplied a custom made RFID fob integrated on a re-useable woven

wristband. The fob featured a custom printed domed sticker, providing a

branding area for Vodafone.

electronic music, spent the last thirty years of his life. It is said that Moogfest is put on to honour the

creativity and inventiveness that Bob Moog had spread throughout the course of his life. Since Moogfest

is an urban music festival, taking place in downtown Asheville, it is spread out across multiple venues.

The project

ID&C were approached by promoter AC Entertainment to provide cloth based RFID wristbands to Moogfest. It was the first time the promoter had using a product like this

River Edge is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States

Census, the borough population was 11,340.

The community was incorporated as the borough of Riverside by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature

then sweeping through Bergen County, based on the results of a referendum held the previous day. On

December 1, 1930, the borough’s name was changed to River Edge.

The project

In its inaugural year, Live Nation chose ID&C to partner with River’s Edge festival, held at the historic Harriet Island in the centre of the City of Saint Paul. Live Nation and

the City of St. Paul have made an agreement lasting over 5 years to build a world class festival destination.

Working with some of the same Live Nation team from Bamboozle earlier in the year, ID&C delivered over 50,000 RFID wristbands which were used on Intellitix’s RFID

access control platform.

The Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival is a music festival held annually in San Francisco, California at Golden Gate Park. The first edition occurred August 22–24 in

2008, and included over 60 musical acts from around the world, as well as several art installations. The festival grounds included the Polo Field which was home to the

Lands End Stage, the Speedway Meadow with Twin Peaks Stage and the Panhandle Stage, and finally the Lindley Meadow and the Sutro and Presido stages.

The project

ID&C released it Mk II SmartCard at the Outside Lands Music Festival in the Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. Working with Another Planet Entertainment and Intellitix,

ID&Cs cloth style wristbands were used for VIPs and workers around the site. The new SmartCard housed ID&Cs new hardened RFID disc, developed for greater strength

and resilience during multi-day festivals. The robustness and durability of the new chip were put through their paces with fantastic results. Reports showed the failure rate

of the chips over the entire weekend was 7 out of 35,000 or 0.002% - undoubtedly the best performance seen of an RFID chip to date.

The product ID&C supplied its RFID SmartCard fabric wristbands which

features an integrated RFID microchip on a custom printed

As part of its 3G network launch, Vodafone Hungary wanted to leverage the brand’s partnership with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula One team to maximise buzz

during the roll out. Leading UK brand experience agency Ignite created the ‘Raise Your Game Festival’, a 4-day event, which gave consumers the chance to take part in a

number of F1-based activities while engaging with the Vodafone brand. The Ignite team sought a way to ensure significant amplification of the event and looked to find a

solution that would merge the audience with its social media

registration platform - RFID Facebook Amplification.

The project To acheive mass participation amongst consumers at the event, Ignite turned to leading event wristband supplier ID&C to provide a robust yet visually appealing wrist-

band solution. ID&C supplied its vinyl-based RFID wristbands that featured an RFID microchip inlay capable of integrating with Ignite’s Facebook Amplification platform.
