The fruitfulness of biomedical concepts is manifested in the possibility of developing numerous problems that open
up a broad perspective allowing the researches to assess physiological and pathological processes. The review of the
literature analyzes the ideas of physiological and clinical nervism from the classics of science to the present days. Spe-
cial attention is paid to the state of modern biomedical science. But in spite of the modern research equipment and new
instrumental methods of diagnosis and treatment, there is still no generalizing theory of normal physiological and
pathological processes adequate to these methods. Without such a theory, it is impossible to arrange a huge experi-
mental and clinical material into a single system. Meanwhile, it is possible to translate the ideas, principles and con-
cepts into a generalizing theory of normal physiological and pathological processes. This theory could help systematize
numerous experimental, clinical and theoretical data based on common principles and form the core of the 21st century
biology and medicine paradigm.
