Moorella is mooving!

Our wonderful cow Moorella will be visiting the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival for the next

two weeks as part of Dairy Australia’s involvement in the event.

She will be on display in Queensbridge Square (at the front of Crown Casino) and there will be lots of events over the weekend and during the festival. If you are in or around the city maybe check it out! Here is some more information about the Dairy hub; it might be a good activity this weekend! There’s lots of activity happening at the Urban Dairy hub and we invite students, parents, teachers from your school to visit to celebrate the dairy industry and see your cow on display! There is also a free kids event at Batman Park on the first weekend of the festival (Friday 4 March – Sunday 6 March) called the Big M Zone. This is the Festival’s hero event for kids and families, and will feature smoothie bikes, food trucks, kid’s activities, giveaways and more. The kids can have their face painted or get their nails decorated, while you enjoy a picnic on the grass and some music by the DJ. Visit us at the ‘Legendairy Play Shed’ for fun, dairy kids’ activities and pick up a free show bag. The sights and sounds of Australian dairy will literally be transported to Melbourne’s Queensbridge Square at

The Urban Dairy will shine a spotlight on all things dairy, and the amazing people who help get it into Australia’s fridges every day.

The Urban Dairy is open for the 10 days of the Festival and will feature hands-on workshops with Legendairy ambassador Michael Klim and Alice in Frames, events for adults and kids, a vintage milk bar and a cheese shop where you can sample delicious dairy products.

GOOD FRIDAY APPEAL On Thursday (3rd March) we will be sending ‘Good Friday Appeal’ envelopes home with your child. The Good Friday Appeal is held each year on Good Friday to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital. If you wish to make a donation please return the envelope and money to school to the classroom teacher. This year, funds donated by school communities will be used to fund The Royal Children’s Hospital Telehealth Project. This project enables children who reside in rural and regional areas, access to video consultation reducing patient travel time, time away from school and disruption to family life.

Student Fruit and Vegetable Garden

The Students’ vegetable garden continued to flourish over the January break. The program has been running for several years now, allowing students the opportunity to experience growing and eating fresh food. Throughout the year students and a group of dedicated parents plant and care for the garden. Fresh food often finds its way onto our ‘Free Fruit Friday’ platters. Already this year students have enjoyed ‘Corn and Green Bean dip’ and cucumber sticks. Sometimes we have an abundance of leafy vegetables and will often share them with our families throughout the year. However, it was most disappointing to see that on Tuesday between 3:45 and 6:00pm, someone has taken the Rock Melons that were growing in our garden. This fruit was for all our students not a few.

All families are most welcome to admire our garden, however please do not pick any produce.
