FALL 2014 ISSUE 9

The ORSP is pleased to offer LMU faculty and staff an institutional membership to Grant Forward, a new pre-award funding search engine that builds on the Illinois Research Information Service (IRIS). Grant Forward helps faculty and staff find federal, private and other funding opportunities with an intuitive and powerful search interface. Faculty and staff members of LMU may easily login to the service from any LMU computer and create an account with their name and email address. Go to www.grantforward.com to create an account. What kind of funding opportunities can I find in Grant Forward?
Grant Forward contains more than 8,000 federal funding opportunities with more than 6,000 foundation and other kinds of opportunities. The inventory includes the Arts, Education, the Humanities, Social Sciences, Business, Engineering and Technology, the Physical Sciences, Law, and many others.
RESEARCH AND SPONSORED PROJECTS
The Office for Research and Sponsored Projects assists the faculty and staff of Loyola Marymount University to obtain grants, contracts, and fellowships in support of academic excellence and the mission of the university.
2
Can Grant Forward send me funding opportunities?
Grant Forward lets users save multiple searches and schedule alerts daily, weekly or monthly. Users can also flag “favorites” to receive updates every time an individual record is changed.
How relevant will the funding opportunities be to my work?
Searches can be sorted by keywords, sponsor type, applicant type, purpose, and other characteristics.
Creating a profile in Grant Forward is easy. Just upload a CV and chose some key words, and the system will generate recommendations for funding opportunities based on that information. There are intuitive ways to fine-tune searches, as well, to get to the records you are most interested in seeing.
Call the ORSP for help getting oriented. We’d be happy to show you more.

Institutional Engagement at CIES, and by Brenda Quiroz-‐Maday, Director, U.S. Scholar Program. The session provided a comprehensive overview of Fulbright programs and informed participants about how institutions and scholars can make the most of the opportunities available. LMU has had twenty Fulbright Scholar awardees in recent years travelling to El Salvador, Poland, India, Italy, and many other nations. We have also benefited from the Visiting Scholar Program to host scholar-‐teachers from abroad, and from the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant program to enhance our Modern Languages offerings in Chinese. Learn more about the Fulbright Scholars Program at http://www.cies.org/ or call the ORSP’s Ashley Alexander at x83752 to talk about the right program for you.
