What is Air Pollution
What are the Cause and Effect of it?
Well let us find it out, together..
What can we possibly do to lessen it?

It occurs when any harmful gases, dust, smoke enters into the atmosphere and makes it
difficult for plants, animals and humans to survive as the
air becomes dirty
Air pollution is one such form that refers to the
contamination of the air, irrespective of indoors or
outside.
![Page 5: Report on Air Pollution](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051501/58a315131a28ab1d068b56e3/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Air pollution consists of gaseous, liquid, or solid substances that, when present
in sufficient concentration, for a sufficient time, and under certain conditions, tend to interfere with
human comfort, health or welfare, and cause environmental damage.
Let’s find out more in HERE…

1. Burning of Fossil FuelsSulfur dioxide emitted from the combustion of fossil fuels like coal,
petroleum and other factories combustibles is one the major cause of air pollution.
Pollution emitting from vehicles including trucks, jeeps, cars, trains, airplanes cause immense amount of pollution.
![Page 8: Report on Air Pollution](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051501/58a315131a28ab1d068b56e3/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
2. Agricultural Activities: Ammonia is a very common by product
from agriculture related activities and is one of the most hazardous gases in the atmosphere.
Use of insecticides, pesticides and fertilizers in agricultural activities has grown quite a lot.

3. Exhaust from Factories and Industries: Manufacturing industries release large amount of carbon
monoxide, hydrocarbons, organic compounds, and chemicals into the air thereby depleting the quality of air.
Manufacturing industries can be found at every corner of the earth and there is no area that has not been affected by it.
![Page 10: Report on Air Pollution](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051501/58a315131a28ab1d068b56e3/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
4. Mining operations: Mining is a process wherein minerals below the earth are
extracted using large equipment's. During the process dust and chemicals are released in the air
causing massive air pollution.
![Page 11: Report on Air Pollution](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051501/58a315131a28ab1d068b56e3/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
5. Indoor Air Pollution: Household cleaning products, painting
supplies emit toxic chemicals in the air and cause air pollution.
![Page 12: Report on Air Pollution](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051501/58a315131a28ab1d068b56e3/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
![Page 13: Report on Air Pollution](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051501/58a315131a28ab1d068b56e3/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
1. Respiratory and Heart Problems:They are known to create several respiratory and
heart conditions along with Cancer, among other threats to the body.
![Page 14: Report on Air Pollution](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051501/58a315131a28ab1d068b56e3/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
2. Global Warming: • a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth's
atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants.
![Page 15: Report on Air Pollution](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051501/58a315131a28ab1d068b56e3/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
3. Greenhouse EffectThe greenhouse effect is the process by which radiation from a planet's atmosphere warms the planet's surface to a temperature above what it would be without its atmosphere. If a planet's atmosphere contains radiatively active gases (i.e., greenhouse gases) the atmosphere will radiate energy in all directions.
Well, all the gas from pollution traps the heat of the SUN putting the
earth into GREENHOUSE

7. Depletion of Ozone Layer: Ozone exists in earth’s stratosphere and is
responsible for protecting humans from harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. As ozone layer will go thin, it will emit harmful rays back onearth and can cause skin and eye related problems. UV rays also have the capability to affect crops.
![Page 17: Report on Air Pollution](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051501/58a315131a28ab1d068b56e3/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
4. Acid RainRainfall made sufficiently acidic by
atmospheric pollution that it causes environmental harm, typically to forests and lakes.
Acid Rain can cause great damage to human, animals and crops.

5. Eutrophication: Eutrophication is a condition where high amount of
nitrogen present in some pollutants gets developed on sea’s surface and turns itself into algae and adversely affect fish, plants and animal species.
excessive richness of nutrients in a lake or other body of water
is a form of water pollution
![Page 19: Report on Air Pollution](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051501/58a315131a28ab1d068b56e3/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
6. Effect on Wildlife: Just like humans, animals also face some devastating affects of air
pollution. Toxic chemicals present in the air can force wildlife species to move to new place and change their habitat.

• Combination of gases with water vapor and dust• Combination of words smoke and fog• Forms when heat and sunlight react gases (photochemical
smog)• Occurs often with heavy traffic, high temperatures, and
calm winds

1.Use Public Mode Of Transportation: • Encourage people to use more and more public modes of transportation to reduce pollution. Also, try to make use of car pooling.
Ride the school bus .
Ride your bike .

2. Conserve energy: • Switch off fans and lights when you are going out. Large amount
of fossil fuels are burnt to produce electricity
![Page 24: Report on Air Pollution](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051501/58a315131a28ab1d068b56e3/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
3. Understand The Concept Of Reduce, Reuse And Recycle:
Do not throw away items that are of no use to you. In-fact reuse them for some other purpose.
