    3 Edit

     

    This chapter describes the functions included in Edit menu. Edit menu provides a variety of

    functions by which drawing a report is easier and more convenient.

    3.1. Undo/Redo

    If you want to restore a command which has been executed to its former status, select Edit >Undo( ) or click Undo on the Standard toolbar or use shortcut . 

    Undo is supported in the multi-level steps. If you click or select Undo continuously, you can

    cancel steps from the most recent one.

    If you re-execute a command cancelled by Undo, select Edit > Redo or click Redo( )on

    the Standard toolbar or use shortcut . 

     Also, Redo is supported in the multi-level steps. If you execute Redo consecutively, you can

    restore the previous commands cancelled by Undo.

    Commands not to allow Undo/Redo.

    1. Key board command (Text input, Moving object, Resizing object etc.)

    2. Control line (Moving, Resizing Object)

    3. Changing object internal properties(TextFrame properties, Table properties, Text object

    properties etc.)

    4. Delete and insert page

    3.2. Select All

    In order to select all of objects on a page, select Edit > Select All or click Select All( )on

    the Standard toolbar or use shortcut .

     After selecting all the objects, if you cancel selecting all of objects, move the mouse cursorto the location where selected object does not exist, and then click the left button of yourmouse.

    In case multiple objects are selected, to release one of the selected objects, hold down

    Shift and left-click a mouse on the selected object. To select the released object, hold down

    Shift and left-click it.

    3.3. Cut

    To cut objects, select Edit > Cut or click Cut( )on the Standard toolbar or use a shortcut

    .

     After selecting the object you want to cut or blocking the content of TextFrame you want to

    cut, Cut  should be executed.

    3.4. Copy

    Select Edit > Copy or click Copy( ) on the Standard toolbar or use shortcut .

     After selecting the object you want to cut or blocking the contents of TextFrame you want to

    cut, Copy should be executed.

    3.5. Paste

    Select Edit > Paste or click Paste( ) on the Standard toolbar  or use shortcut .

    3.5.1. Paste Text

    Locate a cursor to a desired position in TextFrame or a table, and then paste a text. You can

    paste it only in TextFrame and Table Cell.

      The example of Paste

    If you move line 1) to the location next to line3), the following process may be required.

    1. To block Line 1), press  or left-click a mouse and drag it.

    2. Press  or select Edit > Cut, and Line 1) will disappear and two lines will remain.

    3. After locating a cursor to the position lower than Line 3), press  or select Edit >

    Paste, and then Line 1) will be placed at the position lower than of Line 3).

    3.5.2. Paste Object

    In case of pasting an object other than a text in the same page, it will be pasted to the

    location adjacent to a cut or copied object. But, if you paste a copied object to a different

    page, it will be pasted to the same position in the page where it is copied.

      Example of Paste Object

    You can create five tables, which are the same, by using Copy and Paste as shown below.

    1. After selecting a desired table in Selection Mode, press  to copy.

    2. Press four times to paste, and then you can create the five same tables as

    shown below.

    3.6. Paste Selected Properties

    Paste Selected Properties is to paste object and its properties. It operates on Text Frame

    and Table cell only because Figure, Barcode, Chart Object have not String, Format,

    Database Connecting Info and Hyperlink properties.

    To open Paste Selected Properties dialog box, select Edit > Paste Selected Properties.

    The default option is Al l and, if you uncheck Al l, you can select the properties you want.

      String

    In case the content of a text exist, paste Text and Text Style (Font, Color, Size).

      Format

    If the contents applied by selecting Edit > Paste Selected Properties > Format exist, paste

    their properties, This Format means Text Format.

      Database Connection Info

    Paste field information applied by selecting Database > Map Dataset.

      Hyperlink

    Paste hyperlink information applied by selecting Edit > Paste Selected Properties >

    Hyperlink. 

    3.7. Delete

     After selecting or blocking objects, if you select Edit > Delete or press , the selected orblocked objects will be deleted.

    3.8. Delete Selected

    If the selected objects have string, format, database connection info, and hyperlink

    properties, you can delete some properties you want.

    3.9. Find/Replace

    It is useful for finding a location of a Variable name or a String as well as replacing it by

    another String.

    To open Find/Replace dialog box, select Edit > Find/Replace. Otherwise, select

    Find/Replace( ) on the Standard toolbar or use shortcut . 

    If you want to find a specific field among the fields, which you applied with Map Dataset

    dialog box, check Find Field Name.

    If you check Match Whole Word Only, the word which is composed of the entered strings

    only will be found. If you check Case Sensitive, the character strings whose entire uppercase

    and lowercases accord will be found. Location and Direction for finding may be set.

    The location for finding a string starts from input cursor in edit window. If the cursor move to

    the end of document, find again from the first.

    3.10. Insert Object

    You can insert objects in Report Designer 5.0u by using OLE2. OLE2 allows sharing data

    with another application program, so you can insert objects creating on external application

    program to document. As for, all the OLE2’s properties are applied. And, you can easily edit

    between reports and objects.

    To insert the objects by using OLE2, select Edit > Insert Object , and then open the dialog

    box as shown below.

    If you check Display As Icon, the icon of a desired object type will appear.

    There are two ways to insert Object: Create New and Create from File.

    In order to create a new object, after selecting Object Type in list field, click OK. If you do

    not check Display As Icon as default, the name of object type is displayed, and then Editor

    Window and Edit Menu are placed in Report Designer 5.0u Editor  

    If you insert Bitmap Image as object by Create New, Image Editor Window will appear as

    shown below. 

     After drawing images on the above Image Editor Window, click the outside of Image Editor

    Window to close an editing. When you want to draw images again, select the object and

    double–click it.

    If you select Create from File, the following dialog box will appear.

     After selecting a desired image in Browse, click OK. And then the selected image will be

    inserted directly in a document.

    In case you check Link option at the moment, as an image is connected to a file, if you

    change the image of a file, the image in a document also will be changed. When you double

    click the image, the Image Editor Window  will appear outside of Editor.

    3.11. Enter Special CharacterThis function, Enter Special Character  allows you to input special character and symbols

    which are not in a keyboard.

    While the mouse cursor is in TextFrame or Table cell, select Edit > Enter Special Character  

    or use shortcut , and then Enter Special Character  dialog box will appear. If you

    click a desired special character, it will be inserted in the current position of input cursor.

    If you create a new report, one page with one text body will be created. However you can

    add, delete, modify the page by the function like this; Add Cover , Add/Insert Body, Add

    Last Page, Delete Page.

    3.12.1. Add Cover

    In order to add the cover, select Edit > Edit Page > Add Cover  or click Add Cover( ) on

    the Edit Page toolbar. Cover is the fist page, that becomes before the text body of Report.

    The repetition table is not allowed on cover page.

    3.12.2. Add/Insert Body

    If you want to insert pages in report, select Edit > Edit Page > Add/Insert Body or click

     Add/Insert Body( ) on the Edit Page toolbar.

    If you check Add Page, a new page will be added to the next of the current page. If you

    check Insert Page, a new page will be inserted in front of the current page.

    In case of Table Form, if you want to add or insert Body, check Use SubPage of File > New  

    dialog box or check File > Document Properties > Report Type > Use SubPage. If you

    check Use SubPage, the available subqueries are as same as the number of pages.

    3.12.3. Add Last Page

    In order to add the last page, select Edit > Edit Page > Add Last Page or click Add Last

    Page( ) on the Edit Page toolbar. Last page is the last page after ending the text body of

    report. The repetition table is not allowed on last page same as cover page.

    3.12.4. Delete Page

    In order to delete pages, select Edit > Edit Page > Delete Page or click Delete Page( ) 

    on the Edit Page toolbar. Only the page positioning the cursor is will be deleted. Undo is not

    available after executing Delete Page.
