(d) Laboratory Science – 2 years required including CP Biology and CP/H Chemistry. Universities recommend 3 years

(e) Language other than English – 2 years required. Universities recommend 3 years

(f) Visual and Performing Arts – 1 year required

(g) College Prep Elective – 1 year requiredElective should be chosen from Visual/Performing Arts, Social Science, English, Advanced Math, Laboratory Science or Languages other than English.

Consider taking the PSAT as an 8th grader SHS intends to offer the “Redesigned”

PSAT to 8th graders in early March Students may increase their motivation for

completing the A-G requirements Students can compare their progress

amongst 8th graders across the Nation

Choosing College Prep (CP) or Honors (H) Curriculum Students are eligible for university

admission with CP courses The student’s level of intrinsic motivation

and work ethic should match when pursuing Honors courses

Students can take CP in one subject but Honors in another subject

Students earning a grade of “C” or lower in Honors/AP should move to CP

Honors / Advanced Placement Honors courses are the most demanding

courses for freshmen. AP courses are synonymous with university level courses.

9th & 10th grade Honors courses prepare students for AP courses

College credit may be earned by passing AP tests in 10th – 12th grades.

Weighted GPA i.e. “A”= 5 pts in the 10th-12th grades.

the Curriculum Faire to present information on the following topics:

Grad. & A-G requirements Choosing a curriculum Athletics, Band, Choir, and Clubs Bell schedules, transportation, lunch AP teachers will host a meeting directly following

our meeting to explain the Honors and AP program in detail.

District of Choice for 8th Graders

INTRADISTRICT TRANSFER: If you live in the Foothill or Enterprise attendance area but would like to attend Shasta, you must obtain the Intra-District Transfer and return it to the SUHSD Office by Jan. 1, 2016.

INTERDISTRICT TRANSFER: If you live in another school district attendance area (i.e. Gateway or Anderson) but would like to attend Shasta, you must obtain an Inter-District transfer form and return it to the SUHSD Office by Jan. 1, 2016.

After Jan. 1, 2016 different forms will be required.
