Letter from LTC Cook

Red Dragon Family and Friends, Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to join the family readiness and rear detachment team tonight. This meeting is focused on teambuilding, information sharing, and Red Dragon Family support. I would like to take a moment to thank those that have made this event possible: the Red Dragon rear detachment, the battalion and battery family readiness leadership, our unit sponsor (HEB Copperas Cove), and the Legacy Church, Round Rock volunteers. What a great collection of selfless leaders that spend countless hours supporting all of us. You are probably interested in how your Soldier is doing. CSM Soto and I have had the opportunity to see all of the Red Dragons at JRTC in action over the past couple of weeks. Performance has been spectacular as we have honed our skills in those critical tasks we will perform while deployed. [CONTINUED …]

Letter from LTC Cook… We have fired precision artillery fires, conducted numerous missions with Iraqi Security Forces, interacted with local government and tribal leaders, partnered with American department of state leaders, and refined our staff planning and development processes. This has all been enabled by the superb trainer/mentor staff at JRTC. Be proud of your Trooper - they are performing with discipline, precision, and enthusiasm. Awesome work! We will be home with you soon. The last Soldiers will complete our mission here by the 3rd of February with many of us arriving home between January 28 - February 1. We are as excited to return home as you are to have us back. Thank you for pulling the toughest duty of all in keeping our Families on track and as close to normal as possible while we are gone. You are amazing and we owe you an immeasurable debt of gratitude. You are fantastic! Thanks again for being here and we will see you soon! Sincerely,LTC Nate Cook

Deployment Talking Points

• Official Orders have not yet been received.• We are slated to deploy this Spring.• There is a false article in an online newspaper

called the Copperas Cove Leaders Press. The article stating that all 1CD deployment orders have been rescinded is an outdated article and invalid. The 1CD webmaster is currently working to have that article removed.
