REALIA & MODEL
PRESENTED BY
Md. Kabir HossainIER
REALIA1. ‘REALIA’ REFERS THAT , ANY REAL OBJECTS
WE USE IN THE CLASSROOM TO BRING THE
CLASS TO LIFE.
2. ANY OBJECTS OR ACTIVITIES USED TO
RELATE CLASSROOM TEACHING TO THE REAL
LIFE ESPECIALLY OF PEOPLES STUDIED.
From
Dale’s Cone of Experience
we know that“Learning
happens through actual hands-on
experiences”
ADVANTAGES The main advantage of using real objects into the
classroom is to make the learning experience more memorable for the learner.
Visually interesting and captures the attention of the learner.
Break from typical class activities. Realia saves time. Realia breathes life into new vocabulary. Students will try to use real material to understand
anything.
DISADVANTAGES• Real objects may not support a cultural
distinction.
• Activities with real object might lose the class
path.
• Spending too much time in one activity with real
objects in the classroom.
MODEL
1. A MODEL IS A REPRESENTATION OF AN IDEA,
OBJECT, EVENT, PROCESS OR SYSTEM.
2. MODEL ARE REPLICAS OR COPIES OF REAL
OBJECTS WITH SUITABLE CHANGE IN SIZE,
COMPLEXITY, TIMING, SAFETY AND COST
FACTORS.
WHEN WE SHOULD USE ? When real objects are too small or too large to bring into
the classroom. Physical inaccessibility Abstract construction To explain processes
ADVANTAGES The Models provide an environment for interactive
student engagement Learner can examine which may not be easy with the real
object Learner can handle and operate Create high interest and permit close-up observation of
how it works Can illustrate basic operation of a real device provide
important details Make classroom discussion more effective
DISADVANTAGES• Require tedious work
• Expensive
• Might distort some real concepts
• Big or heavy models may be difficult to handle for actual
lecture
THANK YOU
