The Resilience Factor The Difference Between Victim and Overcomer
For individuals facing personal change and upheaval Also for Faith-Based Groups
Program Description
The universe has a sense of humor all its own – just when we think we have it all figured out – along comes LIFE. What do we do when our circumstances change? Have we developed skills that help us respond rather than react? Do we play the victim card or do we adapt and overcome? Developing the Resilience Factor helps us navigate through change and emerge stronger, healthier and with a renewed sense self-worth.
Resilient People Know Who They Are:
Are your values guiding you? When adversity strikes do you find yourself scrambling to develop a life strategy?
Control Their Surroundings: Have you made a conscious effort to control the thoughts, feelings and actions you take, as well as
the people you allow into your inner circle? Define Their Own Measurement: Has your circumstance changed but you’re still defining success in the same old way? Or – worse
yet – allowing other people to define it?
Learning Objectives
Recognize victim behavior and how to reverse the trend Learn the difference between reacting and responding Develop strategies for controlling your environment Let go of the past and define a new measurement
Value to Participants: Those individuals who develop The Resilience Factor will find greater freedom in
their day-to-day lives as the decision of who to be and what to stand for has been decided. When changes
come, and they always do, Resilient People are able to respond rather than react and turn disruption into
an opportunity for transformation.

“Look where you’re going, not where you’ve been.”
Have you ever wondered why it’s so easy to work with some people – you think the same way, you take
the same approach to work, you just click? And then there’s everyone else … Newsflash! We’re not all
the same! We all possess inherent strengths that come as second nature to us. But without learning how
to flex our behavior to adapt to the needs of others, those very strengths can become roadblocks on
our way to effectiveness!
Are you the: Dominant Director: You challenge tradition, act quickly to resolve issues but can be perceived as blunt or critical. Interacting Socializer: Life’s a party! You bring a sense of enthusiasm to everything you do but sometimes fall down in the follow through. Steady Relater: You are the peacemaker, always looking for collaborative solutions but you can delay action by being too inclusive. Cautious Thinker: You demonstrate expertise and have a reputation for being analytical but your mantra might be “never good enough.” Value to participants: In this interactive, lively session, participants learn the importance of self-
management and flexibility as it applies to building influence and leadership capabilities. They will gain
key insights into their own behavioral style as well as learn how to recognize the styles of those they lead
or work with, automatically decreasing tension and increasing trust while establishing rapport and
credibility.

Extraordinary Teams, Extraordinary Results!™ For anyone who leads teams
Program Description
In this interactive, lively session, learn the importance of building relationships among the members
of a team. Of all the moving parts of a project (budget, scope, timeline, resource availability, etc) the
one and only thing a manager truly has control over is how well the team members interact with one
another. Too often we focus on the technical aspects of a project, thinking so-called soft-skills are just
a “nice to have” and yet studies confirm that strong interpersonal skills are the new management
core competency.
Participants will learn how to develop the five characteristics of an Extraordinary Team:
Trust: Recognize the identifiers that indicate either high or low trust on your team and learn practical tips for increasing honesty and vulnerability.
Managed Conflict: Plan for conflict, manage it effectively. How we manage conflict indicates the level of trust on our teams. Commitment: A result of clarity and buy-in. Develop the ability to move forward without consensus or certainty. Uncover hidden agendas and other team killers. Outrageous accountability: Learn how to use positive peer pressure and honest conversations to increase accountability to personal and team goals.
Focus on results – the WIN: A lack of focus will be evident in bad team behaviors. Learn how heightened team visibility serves to improve focus.
Ask Yourself These Questions: Do your team members avoid difficult conversations? Do you find yourself constantly refereeing disagreements or clearing up misunderstandings? Do you have difficulty enforcing accountability? Do your team members display commitment to the project goals? Do your team members display a commitment to one another?
Value to Participants: Extraordinary Teams can be recognized by their highly functional behaviors
as well as their extraordinary results! Workshop Participants will leave with new insights relating to
project success and a better understanding of why some projects flounder while others succeed
despite facing the same organizational constraints. The success factors studied are easily applied and
attendees will learn practical steps to developing their own interpersonal skills and those of their team.

organizations and I highly recommend Pattie and her team. – Linda Amaro,
