Chinese Language and Culture Immersion Program

Program Theme: Building Community Through
Kindness
It is a community service-based
curriculum that fosters
interdisciplinary connections

Program Objectives
• Create a learning environment where a diverse group of
students will generate interest in Chinese language and
culture
• Provide a unique experiential, culturally enriched, age-
appropriate standards-based learning program for students
in urban Springfield, MA and neighboring communities
• Reinforce students’ math skills through meaningful
activities in a carefully planned Chinese environment
• Encourage the neighboring communities where Chinese
may not be currently available to offer Chinese to
• students.

Curriculum
Grade K-2: students show their kindness and
appreciation through both words and actions to people
around them.
Grade 3-5: students raise funds for the local children’s
hospital.
Grade 6-8: students perform shadow puppet show for
the local community
