PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

We Are Proud of Our Uniform Newling Public School is a full uniform school. This means that we wear the uniform on each school day, and we wear it with pride. The school community, through the P and C, endorses and completely supports the wearing of full uniform.

Part of the uniform is the appropriate footwear. For the summer and winter uniform, black school shoes are to be worn. Black leather shoes are preferred, but black sports shoes are also acceptable. This option is also convenient when children are doing PE lessons or involved in physical activity during breaks.

When wearing the sports uniform students can wear sports shoes or ‘joggers’. Sports uniform should only be worn on Fridays. The correct footwear ensures safety for a variety of school activities and must be worn for school excursions.

If you have any questions about the school uniform, or have trouble accessing items please contact the school.

League Trials Seven boys played for a place in the Armidale PSSA Rugby League Team last week with all successfully gaining a spot in the team to compete in Tamworth on the 27th April. Congratulations to all boys who played well and gave their best in the trials. We wish them the best for the competition next term.

Autumn Festival The Armidale Autumn Festival Parade will be held this Saturday 19th March 2015. Newling will again be a part of this event with an entry in the Autumn Festival Parade starting at 12:30pm.

Students are to be dressed in full SPORT uniform, including hat and will be transported on a float (truck) as we were last year. Students should assemble by 12:15pm near the TAFE.

Having a float will make it necessary for some volunteers to help decorate the truck Saturday morning before the event. Those able to help decorate the float at the school should come to the school at 9:30am to assist. Many hands make light work!

Footy Colours –Fiji Appeal Congratulations to all the students, and staff, who came dressed in colours of a favourite football team and donated a gold coin to this cause. We were able to raise a total of $105 that will go towards rebuilding schools and homes of children in Fiji.

The money was presented to Rose Parkes from the Armidale Red Cross at Gathering on Friday. Rose expressed their thanks and said we were the first school in Armidale to raise funds. Well done Newling!

Personalised Learning Plans (PLP’s) Teachers are now finalising PLP’s for every student having met with most parents.

PLP meetings are a very important part of your child’s education and communication between home and the

child’s teacher. The meeting time is brief and provided so that the parent knows what is happening in class, what the child is achieving and what they can do to help the child achieve at school.

Please contact the class teacher as soon as possible to arrange a meeting at a convenient time if you have not already done so.

Bus Licence Do you have a heavy vehicle licence? Could you help out driving the school bus?

On some occasions we need a person to drive the school bus for class excursions. If you have a light rigid vehicle licence and would be interested in helping transport students on our school bus please contact our only current bus driver, Mr Cox.

Are Your Details Correct? Many times during a normal school day families are contacted over some aspect of school operation or student wellbeing. It might be due to a child absence, sickness, a meeting, and so on. It is very important that the family details the school has in respect to the student enrolment are correct at all times.

If the family details or circumstances change in any way the school should be informed as soon as is possible. This will ensure that the information flow to and from school is efficient and effective. If you have changed your circumstances (e.g. moved house, have a new phone, etc...) then please contact us to change your details.
