Mission: To glorify God by ensuring that adults with developmental disabilities have a permanent and safe home where their abilities and potentials are respected and nurtured in a Christian environ-ment.

Message From the CEO

We want to thank everyone who has contributed toward making

Rainbow Omega such a wonderful place to live and work. Only because

of your loving friendship and generous support can we maintain the high

standard of care that our residents deserve. We are truly blessed.

For about 50 years, the government has supported policies declar-

ing that there is only one reasonable way to serve people with develop-

mental disabilities. These policies claim that every person, no matter how

severe that person’s disability, should live in an isolated home inside a

neighborhood called a “Community Integrated Living Arrangement.”

Despite its appeal of independence, this idea that there is only

one good and reasonable route for people with developmental disabilities

denies these people and their families the choice of how to spend their

lives, on this earth.

Who knows this vulnerable person better than those who have fed

him, cared for him, shared life with him since birth? Surely it is those

who know him personally and love him dearly–and who knows and loves

better than this person’s family? They want only for this special member

of their family to live a complete life full of dignity, relationships, and

compassion.

Rainbow Omega offers this kind of life to people with develop-

mental disabilities, and their families’ gratitude is boundless.

Recently our political friends in Montgomery decided to inter-

vene on our behalf, but it was not until after they toured Rainbow Omega

that they made this decision. During their visit to Rainbow Omega, they

saw the love, care, and quality of life that our residents enjoy every day,

and these observations ultimately swayed them to speak on behalf of

Rainbow Omega and everything it represents.

Rainbow Omega exists as the beautiful home it is today because

you believe in us enough to be involved. For this, we, our residents, and

our residents’ families cannot thank you enough. If you would like more information on giving gifts or donations,

or if I can otherwise be of assistance to you in any way, then please con-

tact me at (256) 831-0919 or [email protected].

Sincerely,

Stentson & Dianne Carpenter

Oak Hill Church of Christ , Rome, GA Gives Motorcycle Rides

We had an exciting day with Oak Hill Church of Christ on Saturday, September 8th. For many of us, it was a first time ever to

ride on the back of a motorcycle. For everyone who chose to participate, it was an opportunity to “fly” while still on the

ground! There was a lot of joy and laughter shared by joining a loving church family with our family here at Rainbow Omega.

Together we gathered for food, fellowship & fun! We are thankful for the continuous support we receive from Oak Hill

Church of Christ out of Rome, Georgia.

2018 Birmingham Fundraising Dinner

Tuesday, August 7, 2018, Rainbow Omega hosted its 26th Annual Fundraising

Dinner in Birmingham, Alabama, at The Hyatt Winfrey Hotel in the Riverchase

Galleria. The evening’s guest speaker, was Robert M. (Bob) Brown, the Presi-

dent and CEO of Opportunity Village, Nevada’s largest habilitation organization

providing a variety of services to people with intellectual and related disabilities.

Mr. Brown came here from Nevada, visited our campus, and chatted with

residents and staff. At the dinner Mr. Brown gave a very motivating presentation

to the attendees.

Mr. Brown spoke to us from his heart and told of his work with people with

intellectual disabilities and as a father who has an intellectually disabled child.

When all was said and done, our 26th Annual Fundraising Dinner was a huge success, raising $138,435.00. We would like to thank Mr. Brown for donating his

time to speak at our dinner helping Rainbow Omega have a successful fundraiser.

Rainbow Omega Welcomes New Board Member, Clay Blackwell

We would like to welcome Clay Blackwell to the Rainbow Omega

Family. Clay was voted in as our newest Board Member and attended his

first Board Meeting on September 8th.

Clay was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. As a child he visited

Rainbow Omega in the summers for service projects and during Christmas to

bring gifts and sing Christmas carols to the residents. Growing up in a family

with a cousin with Cerebral Palsy he has been able to see the need and

importance of Rainbow Omega. Now as an adult, he has a better grasp on

why Rainbow Omega is so important in our world today and the importance

of having it succeed for many years to come.

Clay attended Jacksonville State University where he met his wife,

Jackie. They reside in Anniston with their 4-month-old son, H.C. The

Blackwells are members of the Oxford Church of Christ where they are both

very active, teaching Bible classes, Lads to Leaders, helping with

numerous events and Clay is the current song leader for the congregation.

Clay is currently a part of a team of Wells Fargo Advisors in Anniston as a

retirement specialist. Outside of work and church, Clay, Jackie and H.C.

enjoy traveling, spending time with their families and doing just about anything in the outdoors.

In Loving Memory, Rainbow Omega Remembers

Gary Griffith—April 9, 1957 to September 30, 2017 Gary came to Rainbow Omega in May of 2003 in our residential

program, Gary moved to the Davis Orman Intermediate Care

Facility in January of 2011. Before coming to Rainbow Omega,

Gary worked in a sheltered workshop in Montclair, New Jersey from

1977 to 2001 where he did janitorial work and for two years after

that, Gary bagged groceries at a supermarket.

Gary was lovingly known as ‘GG’ by the staff. Gary loved to make

videos and listening to his all-time favorite music artist,

Elvis Presley. Gary was an avid NASCAR fan and a huge fan of

NASCAR Driver Jeff Gordon.

Darryl Jackson—May 16, 1954 to June 19, 2018 In 1995 Darryl was one of the first residents who moved into Rain-

bow Omega. In his early 20s Darryl played Bass Guitar in a band

called the Alley Cats. Darryl and the band went to Washington

D.C. and played for President Jimmy Carter when President Carter

was in office. Darryl loved music, if you mentioned a song, Darryl

could tell you the name of the artist who sang it. Sometimes Darryl

played the drums too. His favorite musical group was the Beatles.

Shopping, going to movies, JSU football and most of all the ALA-

BAMA football team were all some of the things Darryl liked to

watch and do. Darryl was a member of Lincoln Church of Christ.

Rainbow Omega’s Honda Line

In June of 2016, Rainbow Omega was one of less than 100 suppliers awarded by Honda of North America.

Honda has 644 suppliers across North America that supplies parts and materials. Rainbow Omega delivered

over 350,000 kits to HMA – no late shipments, no mislabels, and all shipping information was correct.

Rainbow Omega is consistently ranked number 1 out of 74 suppliers in our classification rank. We build

approximately 1500 kits per day at Rainbow Omega. The total kits produced at Rainbow Omega to date are

well over two million. The Residents and Staff strive to always deliver the kits to HMA with zero errors.

ticipate daily in our Day Program. This program is located in our Health and Wellness Center (HWC). The
