RICHARDS, CREIGHTON KAMAKAHO’OHIE, 1938-2012 Creighton (“Fuzzy”)
Kamakaho’ohie Richards, 74, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2012 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Born on June 19, 1938, he was the eldest son of Louis K. Richards and Carolyn Iwanaga. He
married his best friend, Roberta Mapuana Aiona, 48 years ago and together they had three
children, Reid, Ross and Keala. After graduating early from St. Louis College (now St. Louis
High School) at age 16, Creighton earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Hawaii.
From there, his professional career encompassed several different areas, finally ending in the
airline industry at American Airlines. Working for the airlines allowed Fuzzy and his wife many
opportunities to travel the world which made them very happy. During his spare time, Creighton
loved to coach youth baseball and referee basketball. He refereed at all levels but loved high
school the best because the players made it a fun sport. He was also involved in substitute
teaching. He loved to teach math because it was his favorite subject and particularly to middle
school students because they were so impressionable and eager to learn. The students enjoyed
and respected him because he would take the time to help them understand at their level. Fuzzy
is survived by his wife Roberta, two children Ross and Keala, his brother Lloyd, sisters Ann and
Lyberta as well as seven grandchildren. He will be remembered in many positive ways and for
how he touched the lives of those he knew. He will be revered as a proud, honorable gentleman
with a mind full of knowledge and a heart full of tenderness and love. He knew how to have a
good time and would want people to celebrate his life rather than mourn his death. Please come
and be a part of this celebration on November 10, 2012 at Mystical Rose Chapel on the slopes of
Kalaipohaku at St. Louis High School. Fuzzy’s celebration of life will begin at 10 am with
refreshments to follow. No flowers please . Contributions may be made to the Reid J.K. Richards
Foundation, PO Box 61526, Honolulu, Hawaii 96839. [Honolulu Star-Advertiser 04 November

Richardson, Jacqueline Watson, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2012 in Weymouth,
MA. She was a long time resident of the Honolulu area. Jackie was born in Hackensack, NJ in
1930. She was a generous soul and caregiver all her life. She attended Leonia High School in
Hackensack and graduated from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY with a B.S. degree
in nursing in 1952. Jackie also had a spirit for adventure and after working in New York City for
a few years as a nurse, she and a college classmate set out on a Hawaiian vacation with the idea
of investigating the job market while they were there. Jackie fell in love with the islands, was
hired by Straub Clinic and worked there intermittently until 1977. She married John F. “Jack”
Richardson, Jr. in 1955 and settled into a busy life on Oahu raising four children while working
evenings and holidays at Straub. When the children were older, she took a job with Hawaii
Public Schools and was employed as a school health aide for eleven years. She retired from
Wilson Elementary in 1989. After her children were grown and she resigned from nursing,
Jackie focused her energies volunteering in her community, entertaining island visitors, and
rekindling her passion for adventure. She was a volunteer at Hawaii Public Radio, Planned
Parenthood, and Holy Nativity Episcopal Church. She and Jack travelled world-wide – to Africa,
through the Panama Canal, and all over Europe. However, her favorite trips were always to
attend Skidmore class reunions and visit her grandchildren on the mainland. Jackie is survived
by Jack, her husband of 56 years and their children Mark Richardson of Huntington Beach, CA,
Claudia Seaver (David) of Eaton, CO, John F. Richardson, III (Kathy) of Seattle, WA and Jill
O’Brien (Tom) of Marshfield, MA, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Remembrances can be made in Jacqueline W. Richardson’s name to Aloha Shriners Children’s
Transportation Fund, c/o Aloha Shriners, 1611 Kewalo Street, Suite 201, Honolulu, HI 96822.
