GOD WANTS TO BE KNOWN The Old Testament reading from Deuteronomy praises God for inscribing the commandments in our very bodies. God’s law is not distant or foreign, but a natural part of us. In his letter to the Colossians, Saint Paul echoes Moses, praising God for becoming one of us. The truly human, flesh-and-blood Jesus reminds us that God always wants to be recognizable and familiar to us. Jesus, who is also truly God, wants to be on intimate terms with each of us. God’s passionate desire to be known by us is almost too wonderful to take in. Luke’s Gospel helps us understand how to respond. The Good Samaritan parable provides practical advice for those who believe in God’s intimate love for them and want to share that love with others.

CONGRATULATIONS FROM THE BISHOP Allow me to offer my congratulations to you & the parishioners of Resurrection Parish on reaching your 2019 Annual Catholic Appeal goal of $42,312 in pledges. You & your Appeal Team, as well as your parishioners, are all to be commended for the diligence, sacrifice & personal commitment each has made in this important endeavor for the Church in Brooklyn & Queens. Your leadership & example in implementing the local Appeal is an inspiration to all. It is because of the willingness of your faithful parishioners to answer the call of Christ to care for each other & build up the Church that so many will be helped. Because of the collective generosity of Resurrection parish, the presence of Christ Jesus will be brought to so many through Catholic Charities, Catholic Migration Services, Vocations Support, Catholic Schools Scholarship Assistance, Chaplaincies, Care for Retired Priests, Parish Assistance, Faith Formation, & your own parish. Each of you have responded to the 2019 ACA in thanks for all that is accomplished through parish & diocesan ministry, recognizing the hope that goes hand-in-hand with your charity. It is my prayer that your parishioners will continue to emphasize participation in the Appeal, while understanding the magnitude of the impact that our ACA has on all the people who make up the Diocese in Brooklyn & Queens. Thanking you again for your leadership & asking the Lord to extend His choicest blessings upon you & the people of Resurrection Parish, I am Sincerely in Christ, Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Ph.D., D.D.

I want to thank you and your parishioners for your donation of $1,000.00 to St. Pius X Church which either went to purchasing items needed to continue our daily masses or towards the rebuilding of the church. We appreciate your thoughtfulness. Therefore, we ask God to continue to bless you and your parishioners for your generosity & support. Yours in Christ, Rev. Jean-Miguel Auguste, Pastor (If it wasn’t for the generosity of people putting money in the Poor box at Resurrection, we wouldn’t be able to do this. Many thanks)
