SAFE ARRIVAL LINE: 613-432-4845 FAX: 613-432-9337 Principal: Angie McGrath Secretary: Donna-Lynn Burgess Custodian: Lori Rathwell PRINCIPALS MESSAGE Dear Parents, Staff and Students: Staff and students are preparing for a busy and fun filled month of learning and festive activities! Many staff have and continue to be involved in meetings regarding professional development in Math, Literacy and NPDL. Ms. Pilgrim has been coaching the grade 6 volley- ball team to prepare for a few mini upcoming tournaments. Ms. Cluett and Grenier have been engaged planning for our Mini We Day on December 4th and our Xmas Shopping Day on the 13th. Our classrooms are receiving new chromebooks and ipads on Dec. 15th to keep us updated with the latest technology tools for our students! We hope you will be able to attend our Winter Wonderland Christmas Concert on December 19th at 11:30 am! Thank you to parents Lisa Hartwick, Jonathan Alcombrack and Krista Kentfield with their commitment to our Breakfast Program. So many of our students enjoy a delicious and healthy breakfast and snacks throughout the day. We are so appreciative of their dedication to help support the children of our school community. QEPS staff continue to focus their efforts on providing opportunities for students to learn and practise skills related to being students of good Character and Citizenship. We encourage parents to support these values and help support our initiative to collect gently used or new winter clothing for CPANs Operation Snowsuit. We are currently collecting items for you to send to school with your child/ren or drop off at the front office. On December 12th, QEPS and Dominos Pizza in Renfrew are pairing up to support CPANs initiative. More infor- mation will follow. As you are aware, our fundraising efforts have been and continue to focus on planning and expanding our QEPS playground this Spring. The School Council are currently working with three playground companies to secure the required quotes before we can choose our vendor. School Council members also plan to contact local Civitan Clubs for financial support to help with the very high costs of this endeavor. If you are a member of a local community group, or have a personal connection with these local Renfrew committees, please contact School Council Chair Lauren Johnson ([email protected]) so contact can be made to request financial support. On a final note, Id like to thank all of you for educating your child/children regarding personal safety when crossing busy streets, espe- cially at our Barr St. crossing. RCDSB and myself have been working closely with the Town officials to develop safe strategies to ensure this crossing is safe for our students. Im please to announce the Town of Renfrew released a statement on November 28th, that they will hire a Crossing Guard for the Barr St. crossing to begin following the Xmas holidays. OPP officer Janice Sawbridge will also be pre- senting street safety tips to our students in the coming weeks. Wishing all of you a very joyful and relaxing holiday season with family, friends and best wishes for a healthy and prosperous New Year! Wishing you well…. Pizza Days Pizza days for December are the 6th and 20th. Pizza days for January are the 10th and 24th. Please order your January pizza online by Dec. 14th. If pizza day falls on a snow day and your child comes to school, they should bring a lunch that day. Pizza will be rescheduled for the next school day! Thank you!

Annual Christmas Shopping Day Thursday, December 13th

We will be accepting donations until

December 11th for our annual Christmas Shopping Day, which is on December 13th. Gently used items such as toys, books, mov-ies, board games and household items can be dropped off to Mrs. Grenier or Ms. Cluett’s classroom (Please sign in at the office when you arrive at the school) NO clothing items or shoes, please. Proceeds will partially be directed to the ME to WE Foundation. Our QEPS community is supporting the building of a “water well pro-ject” in Kenya. Some proceeds will also stay here in our own school community to be di-rected to our QEPS playground enhancement project. Thank you for your support!

The sleds and snow toys featured in the photos were purchased with school fundraising money to be enjoyed by our students in the Winter Snow! Thanks to all!

OPERATION SNOWSUIT Renfrew County Child Poverty Action Network Starting immediately our school will be collecting new and/or gently used snowsuits and footwear on behalf of CPAN. There will be a designated box in the school foyer. Please check your closets and donate any snowsuits and/or boots that your child may have outgrown. Please note: These items must be clean and in good repair as CPAN does not have facilities for cleaning or repair. They are always short on snow pants and larger snowsuits, boots, etc. (men’s and ladies sizes). New items are also welcome. Monetary donations can be made to CPAN, 130 Pembroke Street West, Pembroke, ON K8A 5M8. If you (or someone you know) are in need of help with snowsuits and winter footwear, please apply online at www.renfrewcountycpan.ca—Go to the programs and click “Operation Snowsuit”. If you have difficulties CPAN can be reached at 613-735-9579. Please leave a brief message including your name and number and they will return your call ASAP. Thank you in advance for your help!!
