Q is the ultimate guide to modern music, distilling it down to the good stuff. Well-respected by artists and labels, we have unrivalled access to music’s biggest names, as well as well-honed instincts for the next big-thing.

Q is your map to the world of music now, with detail about all the off-the-beaten-track gems you may have missed, as well as exclusive access to all the major landmarks. Employing the most-accomplished music writers and photographers, we deliver our features with the depth and craft only a monthly music mag can – taking the time to get to the core of a story and producing a magazine you can luxuriate in. With our website, social media channels and partnership with Absolute Radio, Q reaches over one million music fans each month. We deliver something for the novices and the experts in everything we do.

We know our stuff we’re eager to share it with anyone who wants a friendly, informed hand to guide them towards the best records, as well as the most absorbing stories and fascinating personalities. Q will tell you amazing detail you didn’t know about your favourite artists, as well as introducing you to your next musical crush. It will also make you laugh because it is the one monthly music magazine where irreverence is also permitted.

THE MISSION

Page 3: Q - ADVERTISING All magazine enquiries - Bauer Media · MISSION Q the guide distilling it down the good stuff. We havc unrivalled access to musick Employing writers and photographers,

Chris is 29 years old and lives in Leeds. Music is more important to him than anything else. It’s at the centre of his social life. It soundtracks all the best moments in his life. It’s his identity, his social currency and his world.

Chris lives for gigs, festivals and those electrifying moments of togetherness that only music can provide. He is the one who sorts out gig tickets for his friends, turns them on to new bands and sets up the big festival weekend.

Chris works in a professional job and finally has the money and time to indulge his music habit to the full. He lives with a partner (no kids, yet) who is similarly music mad. He is “discovering quality” in all areas, from sound systems to deluxe reissues to cars, travel and clothes. Chris loves technology – he was first with the iPod, iPhone, iPad and now streaming music services. He downloads music but still prefers to own CDs. And he spends more on music than anything else: a big gig every week or so, six albums a month plus a Spotify subscription and countless on-the-go downloads.

1 ACCESSQ’s unrivalled access to the biggest names brings music’s most exciting characters to life. We put the reader in the room with their favourite artists, helping them understand what the stars are like to be with, what they stand for and how their own journeys have shaped their music. Whether we’re having an intimate sit-down with Kanye West, shadowing Liam Gallagher from his local pub to his tourbus, or psychoanalyzing St Vincent in her hotel room on a rare day off, no one gets you closer to the music and the stars that make it. It’s no wonder Ed Sheeran calls Q “my favourite magazine”.

2 BREADTHOur readers are serious about music. They’re proud of their record collections, playlists and music libraries and are a broad-minded bunch – in the infinite choice world of streaming, they don’t confine themselves to single genres. They’ve long been into rock, indie and pop, but regularly explore electronica, soul, folk, hip-hop, house and jazz. Q patrols the whole musical waterfront for them, using expert knowledge, sharp instincts and an unrivalled contacts book to identify the greatest new records and the best stories.

3 AUTHORITYOur reviews section, Q Review, filters modern music down to the best and most important records and gigs every month. We investigate more music each issue than any other magazine and employ the world’s best music writers. In-depth but never intimidating, Q prides itself on accessibility and warmth. The sharp, witty writing provides a way in for everyone, be they experts or new fans getting into a band for the first time. We help readers discover new music they’ll really love each issue, bringing the personalities and motives behind the creators to life.

Q ONLINEOur website is a daily pass into our monthly proposition. Qthemusic.com is the place to dip into the new issue, read stars discussing The Records That Changed My Life, discover classic Q features from the archive and highlights of our best photography, as well as curated playlists from the Q team.

MULTI-PLATFORM OFFERINGEVENTSThe Q Awards is the most unique awards ceremony in music. No other event brings together such a variety of big-name musical talent under one roof. Glamorous and irreverent, it’s the awards show the stars most love to be at. Every year sees rock ’n’ roll icons such as The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Blondie and the Gallaghers rub shoulders with the cream of the current generation such as Skepta, Ed Sheeran, Wiley, Wolf Alice, The 1975 and all of Q’s numerous special guests. Since relocating from a lunchtime affair in a Mayfair hotel to a later ceremony at the iconic Roundhouse in Camden in 2016, the Q Awards has also sold a limited number of tickets to watch the ceremony, while delivering a special sold-out live performance in the evening after the awards too: firstly with The Charlatans and, in 2017, the Manic Street Preachers. This new venue and format has further hugely reinvigorated the event.

Past ceremonies have been hosted by stars such as Al Murray and Jonathan Ross, with celebrities from the worlds of music, film, TV and comedy presenting individual awards. Folded into the new, more dynamic format they ensure each Q Awards is a hugely entertaining, talked-about event which is supported by associate partners via sponsorship of individual awards. It’s the music event to be part of this year.

Q LEGENDSQ recently launched a new business publishing a luxurious quarterly magazine dedicated solely to an artist whose career is so full, and whose story is so rich, that we have devoted an entire magazine to them. Named Q Legends, this deluxe magazine examines an artist’s whole career via their greatest, most revealing and funny interviews, picture galleries that are annotated by the photographers and the artists, and new insight from those writers who spent the most time with the cover stars. The subjects of the first two Q Legends, Oasis and U2, have both also provided

their seal of approval by composing a special introduction to their edition.

DIGITAL EDITIONQ is the digital music magazine that brings music alive every month. Q’s digital magazine combines Q’s compelling editorial with interactive galleries and other specially provided content.
