Ideas/Issues• Preferable to host PSE-2018 in a major US city• International conference– Prefer not to add shuttle/short flight travel to those

coming from Europe or Asia• Larger than “typical” CACHE-sponsored

conference– Perhaps 300-400 attendees

From CACHE Minutes, 20-21 April 2001, Galveston. Review of past conferences – Edgar: PSE 2000: Low attendance, but income and operating expenses seems roughly to have broken even.

The CACHE Minutes, 16-18 November, 2000, Los Angeles indicate 260 people and 254 papers at PSE 2000. It is clear that there were issues with how Keystone handled room attrition. The original contract (1998) was for 300 rooms, using a % of room total basis, before the hotel expanded.

Suggested Timeline

• CACHE agrees to provide financial backing– In principle, now

• Small advisory committee from CACHE and CAST– Soon

• Name Chair by 15 July 2013– Chair spearheads official proposal to CACHE– CACHE approval in San Francisco, 8/9 November 2013

• Proposal to IOPSE by 30 November 2013– Need suggested structure/details from Rafiq Gani– Is final location needed by then?
