Proverbs 16:1-4
1To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the reply of the tongue.
2All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord.
3Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.
4The Lord works out everything for his own ends— even the wicked for a day of disaster.
Hebrew Parallelism

Prov 16:1 – Our Responsibility
“Plans” in Hebrew = plans we make after looking at all issues, options, responsibilities and consequences.
Lesson : It is God who ultimately establishes and brings our plans to fruition.
Prov 16:2 – Our Motives
God weighs our motives, intents and purposes.
Lesson : God knows our hearts and He will deal with impurities to cleanse us and make us holy.
Prov 16:3 – Our Trust
“Commit” means to entrust something to someone else.
Plan responsibly AND recognise and rest in the sovereignty and rulership of God.

God’s promise :1. Recognise His sovereignty and
2. Trust in His goodness… THEN
3. He will guide our steps and establish our plans
4. In accordance with His purposes
Lesson : Move from a me-centred mindset to a God-centred mindset.
Prov 16:4 – God’s Purposes
God has a purpose for our lives.
Lesson : Our plans and decisions must be made in submission to God’s purposes.
God’s purposes include: Bringing glory to God Walking righteously Using our gifts and talents Being salt and light in society
