Southern University College(Southern UC) previously known as Southern College was established in 1990. Southern UC is the �rst non-pro�t higher education institution in Malaysia and the establishment started with the Foon Yew Advanced Studies Programme in 1975. It is to provide an educational channel for high school graduates who were unable to further their studies in overseas. On top of that Foon Yew’s Board of Directors made an application to the Ministry of Education to set up Foon Yew College for the recognition of this programme. With the persistence and e�orts of the Chinese community, Southern College was �nally approved by the Ministry of Education in 1990. Through twenty-two years of management and e�orts, the Ministry of Higher Education �nally approved Southern College to be upgraded as Southern University College in 2012.

There are 6 Faculties in Southern UC which are: Faculty of Business and Management, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, Faculty of Chinese Medicine, Faculty of Art and Design, and Faculty of Education and Public Welfare.
