CLASSROOM PRESENTATIONS
1. Building a Resume & Cover Letter, Available in Video Format
This class will instruct students in the proper approach to constructing their professional resume
and cover letter. During this session, students will learn how to make their resume and cover letter
stand out over the rest of the competition.
2. Creating an Effective LinkedIn Profile, Available in Video Format
In today’s job market, LinkedIn is quickly becoming a must-have social networking tool, for job
seekers and recruiters. This class will instruct students on how to create an effective and
professional LinkedIn profile and teach them how to be strategic in their approach.
3. Interview Skills
Students will be educated on the proper preparation and presentation of themselves for a
professional interview in order to make a lasting impression and land a job.
4. Strategic Job Search and Networking, Available in Video Format
In this presentation, students will learn how to match their values and skills to their job search.
Additionally, students will be taught practical approaches on searching for opportunities, landing an
interview, and following up after the interview.
5. Aligning Professional and Personal Goals
This class will challenge students to think critically about not only their professional direction, but
their personal goals as well. Discussion will target steps to take to ensure that they are intentional
about their personal and professional growth as their college years transition into a full time career.
6. Building Your Handshake Profile, Available in Video Format
Handshake is our online platform where students can have the ability to access Career Center
resources, create appointments with our Career Counselors and build their profiles to network with
employers and apply for jobs/ internships. This class will instruct students how to use Handshake,
the value it brings when searching for employment opportunities and how to network online with
employers, peers and other college students with similar career aspirations.
7. Managing Yourself on Social Media
In today’s recruiting process, 70% of employers are using social media to screen candidates in the
hiring process. This class will inform students on how a positive and negative reputation on social
media can affect their professional presence and teach them how to be strategic when on social
media.
8. Your Career In COVID-19
This is not a presentation, but rather a Q&A session with a Career Counselor to discuss how
students can prepare professionally in a pandemic environment.

Our online platform where students can access the Career Center resources, electronic
resume reviews, create appointments with our Career Counselors and build their profiles to
network with employers and apply for jobs/internships.

Students can utilize the Focus2Career and What can I do with this major? online resources
for additional guidance in identify potential careers
4. Document Library
Online and in-center documents geared toward helping with resumes, cover letters,
networking, and more
5. LinkedIn Headshots, In person
Students have monthly opportunities to have a professional headshot taken for their LinkedIn
accounts
6. Wardrobe Closet, In person when COVID-19 resolved.
At no additional cost, students can borrow professional clothes for their next interview,
networking event, or professional occasion

This appointment is designed to receive individualized feedback on how to make your
Handshake profile as strong as possible and to learn how the Handshake features can help
students in their career journey.
2. Resume Review
Students receive individualized feedback on how to make sure their resume is as strong as
possible.
3. LinkedIn Review
Students receive individualized feedback on how to make their LinkedIn profile as strong as
possible.
4. Cover Letter Review
Students receive individualized feedback on how to make their cover letter as strong as
possible.
5. Mock Interviews
Students can sharpen their interview skills and receive feedback during this simulated
professional interview
• Students MUST sign into the waiting room on Webex 5 minutes prior to the interview
• Be professionally dressed and email an update resume along with a job description
for the interview 24 hours prior to the interview to your career counselor.
• Please ensure your technology is working, including computer video
6. Interview Check-Up
This is conducted after a student has previously completed a mock interview. Students can
track how their interview skills have improved since completing their mock- interview.
7. Career Path
The Career Path appointment is designed to guide students on the next steps to take
towards their career. Prior to the appointment, students should be prepared to share what
they want to do after college. During their appointment, we will discuss:
• Involvement at CBU
• Involvement outside of CBU
• Involvement with professional and career contacts
• Spiritual Development
• Someone to keep them accountable for each goal
