Deputy Principal - Miss Margaret Gordon The Year 5 students have been extremely busy preparing for the 2018 Leadership speeches which be held tomorrow at 9.30am. I wish all the students the best and they should be very proud of themselves for standing and presenting to school, parents and community members. The students who are eligible to attend the Gold Coast Attendance Excursion will bring home their notes today. These notes are to be returned to school ASAP so final bookings for the trip can be made. If you have any questions regarding the excursion please contact me. The Year 6 Farewell is on tomorrow night, I look forward to seeing the students all dressed up and enjoying their special night which they greatly deserve for all of their hard work over the last 7 years. A reminder to all students, parents and carers that students need to wear appropriate shoes and clothing to school. Shoes should be closed in shoes and clothing should be appropriate length and cover the students shoulders. Our 2018 Leaders speeches will be presented on Tuesday 21 st November (tomorrow) at a Special Assembly starting at 9.30am. All parents/carers and community members are welcome to attend the Special Assembly. Intensive Swimming starts today for our infants students. Please ensure your child brings a hat, a towel, their swimmers and sunscreen in a separate bag each day. Don’t forget that Bourke Public School has EFTPOS facilities for parents/carers to use when making payments. 1D- Miss Duiz In English this week students will present their persuasive speeches on a range of topics related to school. Students will then begin their next writing task, writing a letter to someone special, maybe even Santa! In Maths students will be learning to compare and order area of shapes and objects. Enjoy your week!

Infants News

Stage 1 AP- Miss Duiz Intensive Swimming begins this week and continues into next week for Infants students. For those students who have brought in their notes and money, they will be taken in small groups each day to the pool to learn to swim. This week is our last week for Infants Assembly. There will be a lot of students receiving awards and even a special guest will attend.

COMPUTER LAB

Early Stage 1 AP- Miss Mowbray Welcome to Week 7! This Thursday KM and KF are lucky enough to participate in a visit from some of the Waratah Rugby players. Don’t forget the EYTC Graduations are next week. Dingoes are Tuesday and Wombats are Wednesday, both at 2pm. It would be great to see you all there to celebrate our Early Years students! Have a fantastic week!

KF- Miss Finch Wow week 7 already. Today we had the Dingo's joining us in KF for English learning centers. Its great to see KF being great role models. In KF this week, we are starting a new text. It's called 'You and Me: our place'. Remember to bring your swimming gear this Friday. Have a great week.

And just like that it is Week Seven already! In English this week we are

continuing on our persuasive writing – do you think that we should squash

ants or be very careful not to hurt them? The students are very excited

to be going to the computer lab this week to publish their work. We have

almost filled our firefly jar – we just

need to catch two more and to catch them we need everyone at school on

time each day!

KM- Miss Mowbray KM are busy learning all about different strategies for Addition and Subtraction this week. In English we will be focusing on our sound of the week which is sl. In Writing we are working on using our knowledge about joining words to make our sentences longer. A Day for Elle is on Friday so please remember to wear pink or purple and bring a gold coin donation. There will also be cupcakes and snowcones for sale.

1C- Miss Cook

This week is a very busy week. Intensive swimming is this week and next and the year 6 Graduation is on Tuesday night. In English, we are creating our own fruit or vegetable and writing to persuade you to eat it. In maths, we are using coins to play some money games. In the afternoons, we are going on a classroom adventure to Kakadu National Park and attending our last assembly for 2017.

3H- Miss Heaney Welcome to week 7! Good luck to all Year 5 students giving their 2018 captains speeches tomorrow morning. A reminder the assembly starts at 9.30am. The Year 6 farewell is also tomorrow night, students, parents and carers may start arriving at 5.45pm. During class time 3H will be working on their Geography research task. Have a wonderful week!

2D- Miss Dorrington This week we will be graphing the various lengths recorded for our shadows. We have learnt that the length varies depending on the time of day. We will be role playing life in early Australia to gain a better understanding of the lifestyles of early settlers. Students will be investigating the volume and capacity of various items during maths this week.

3W- Miss Wilson

Welcome to Week 7! Stage 3 have a

busy week ahead with Year 6 Graduation and 2018 Leaders

speeches. In English 3W are writing a poem about a character named

Marmadia from the 13-Story

Treehouse. In Geogroaphy we are completing a research project and

creating a presentation. In Science are completeing an assessment task on the planets in our solar system.

Stage 3 AP- Miss Wilson Wow, Week 7 already! Tuesday 21st is a big day with the Year 6 Graduation at Diggers on the Darling commencing at 6:00pm. We look forward to seeing our graduates and their families there. A reminder that Year 5 are invited along to Diggers form 7:30pm-9:00pm for a celebration disco. The 2018 Leaders speeches will also take place on Tuesday in the school hall starting at 9:30am. Best of luck to all students who have nominated. Have a great week!

3B- Miss Buckley Welcome to week 7! Tomorrow morning year 5 students who have nominated to be a school leader for 2018 will be presenting their speeches at assembly. I wish you all the best of luck. This week 3B will be filming a documentary on the water issues that affect the Murray- Darling basin. In Drama we will be creating our props for our Mission control role play. Have a great week!

Stage 2 AP- Miss Griffiths Stage two enjoyed the Rugby Union

football clinic last week. The

students participated enthusiastically

and demonstrated skill development.

We have our attendance party on the

11th December. It will be a pool party

from 11.30am until 12.30pm and

students need to have less than 3

days absent including partials and no

monitoring cards or suspensions.

2B- Mr Dewberry Welcome to Week 7! 2B have being doing a great job in English with their Character Profile’s of their family members. We will be doing speeches next week on their family member. We will then begin our new text ‘Two Peas in a Pod’. In Maths, 2B will be focusing on Multiplication and Division. Don’t forget to bring your Intensive Swimming notes back so …..you may attend in week 9.

2G- Miss Griffiths This week 2G are going to be very busy in completing a published piece of work to submit to Miss Bartley. The writing piece will be about our families and if the students work is up to standards they will receive their pen licence. 2G have already demostrated some excellent writing so I am very hopeful for them all.

commence at 2pm in the school hall. Finally, just a reminder that the final day of school for our Dingoes is Tuesday, 5

December and the Wombats last day of school is Thursday, 7

3-6L- Miss Wade Wow! Week 7 already! This term is just flying by. 3-6L in English we finished writing our letters to post to Santa. This week we will be exploring capacity in maths through hands on learning activities. For Visual Arts we will be using dark and light tones to create a contrasting artwork representing night and day. Don’t forget to bring your swimmers, towel, sunscreen and 50c for Sport on Friday. Miss Bartley & Mrs Roe Congratulations to Ashlyn Stutsel who has been selected by her teacher for Miss B artl ey’s Star Award. Ashlyn has produced some great writing which has been published and presented using a word processor. She will receive a prize and an award from Miss Bartley for her efforts. You will see Ashlyn’s work sample displayed on Miss Bartley’s Star Wall. Please watch this space every fortnight to hear about other students being added to Miss Bartley’s Star board for their hard work and effort.

Support AP- Miss Nixon This week the Intensive Swimming Scheme will start for Infants. It will run for 2 weeks. If your child is in year 3 – 6, they still have the opportunity to be a part of the Intensive Swimming Scheme in week 9. Please send in their note and money to secure a position. Please contact the school if you require another note. There is a bit under 4 weeks until the Support Classes visit the Cobar Pool for an end of year Christmas party. The countdown is on! Get excited!

K-3W - Mrs Wood Welcome to Week 7! Last week we

enjoyed cooking banana bread and

brainstorming healthy snack ideas.

Throughout this week we will be

learning about addition and subtraction

strategies and measuring area. On

Tuesday we will be going to IGA for our

weekly shopping trip. K-3W will also be

learning about how to share our families

traditions and history through oral

stories.

2-6N- Miss Nixon Welcome to week 7! Only 4 weeks to go! Last week 2-6N wrote letters to Santa. This week we will be posting them at the Post Office. Hopefully Santa writes back! We will be continuing to learn about famous landmarks in Australia. We will also be learning about different services that can be accessed in Bourke. Have a lovely week
