PRINCIPAL’S COMMENTS

2nd September2016 Issue 14

Don’t forget our SunSmart Policy. Hats to be worn during

Terms 1 and 4.

Wednesday morning saw some

very excited children arrive at

school packed and ready to leave

on their camp. The children were

accompanied by Mr Paris, Mr.

Turner, Mrs Hebing and Mrs.

Nikolic. The Grades 3 /4

children arrived safely at Mill

Valley Ranch in Tynong North

and have settled in and are

having a great time. I travelled to

Tynong North to visit the Grade 3

and 4 campers yesterday and

found them all enjoying a

wonderful camp experience in a

very beautiful and calm country

area. Students were doing craft

activities, cooking damper and

kayaking on the small dam they

have on the property. Everyone

was safe, happy and enjoying

themselves. The teachers were a

little tired but having a great

time. Thank you to Mr. Paris,

Mr. Turner, Mrs. Hebing and

Mrs. Nikolic for going on the

camp and ensuring everyone was

enjoying the experience.

Just a reminder that next Friday

the 9th September is a

Curriculum Day and children are

not required at school. Teachers

will be working with a consultant

to revisit our values and looking

at where Movelle will be heading

in future years. We have already

had input from students and

School Council and would

welcome any ideas from our

wider community on the

following four questions.

What is Movelle known for?

What is important about

Movelle’s past?

What needs to be taken into the

future?

Is there anything we need to

leave behind?

Miss Carmen will be on LSL from

the 4th Sept and returning 3rd

Oct. We hope you have a relaxing

and enjoyable holiday . We all

look forward in seeing you on the

first day of Term 4 .

SUNSMART

CHOCOLATE DRIVE

Thank you to Mrs Hebing and Ms Athena

for the work they have done to make the

Father’s Day stall look fantastic. As usual

there was a wide range of gifts for children

to choose from with prices ranging from $1.50 to

$7.00. Thank you also to Mrs Bower and Mrs Smith

for running the stall while Mrs Hebing is on camp.

Bill Hunt Principal

The Fundraising committee would

like to say a big thank you to all the

Movelle School Community for the

wonderful support we received in the

Chocolate Drive. Nearly all unsold boxes have been

returned and we are near to making $2500.00 profit.

Families that sold 3 boxes or more were

acknowledged at last week’s assembly and

presentations were made to Nataleigh Garwood and

Eleka Shu for selling 7 and 6 boxes and Chloe Murawi

Hathaway and Alex Eddy for selling 4 boxes. This

money will go towards the upgrade of the P-2

playground.

A new slide will be put in over the school holidays.

Rehearsals are continuing for our whole school

production of “The Dream Machine” and all the

students are doing a fantastic job! Last week, the

whole school came together to rehearse the song

we are singing for the finale. During this session,

the students were very excited and their singing

was amazing!

This week in assembly, we also watched two

performances from the musical. In the first

performance, the Prep/1s performed the song

‘I Have A Dream’ which they have been

practising in their classrooms with Mrs Hancock

and Mrs Capruciu, as well as in Performing Arts

with Miss S. In the second performance, the main

cast acted out the first two scenes which they

have been working on with Mr Turner. Both the

performances were fantastic and really showed

how much hard work and dedication both the

staff and students are putting in to ensure that

the production is ready to go for opening night.

You may have noticed that the billboards

promoting the production have been installed at

the front of the school and in the parent’s car

park. If you haven’t seen them yet, please make

sure you have a look and let your family and

friends know about ‘The Dream Machine’.

We’d also like to thank Barry Plant Real Estate

Agents in St Albans for providing us with the

billboards again this year.

FATHERS DAY

We have just had this timely

reminder from the Sunsmart

Council.You may have already

noticed Victoria’s UV levels are

steadily rising so it’s time to dust off that sun

protection gear and get into full SunSmart mode!

The weather may still be cold and grey some days but

please don’t be fooled. It’s the UV that can damage

our skin and eyes. We can’t see or feel UV but at this

time of year it starts to increase in intensity.

During the sun protection times please remember to:

1. Slip on covering clothing

2. Slop on SPF 30 (or higher) broad-spectrum,

water-resistant sunscreen

3. Slap on a wide brimmed hat

4. Seek shade

5. Slide on some wrap-around sunglasses

Just a reminder that in Term 4 all children must wear

a hat at recess and lunchtimes.
