Holy Days

Sacrament of Baptism
We are pleased to help your family prepare for the special event of your child’s entrance into our faith community. Please contact the parish office at least two months prior to your preferred Baptism date to schedule a preparation class. We encourage attendance at this class well before the baby’s birth. The class is usually offered the last Monday evening of each month. Baptisms are scheduled Sundays at 1:00 p.m.
Sacrament of Reconciliation RESERVATION REQUIRED Saturday from 4:00pm—4:30pm or by appointment.
Sacraments of Initiation Adults interested in receiving the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation) may call the Director of our RCIA program, Deacon Tim Leonard.
Sacrament of Marriage Please contact the parish office at least six months prior to your wedding to set a date and to begin your marriage preparation and required paper work.
Home or Hospital Visitation (Temporarily Suspended) Anyone who cannot attend Mass because of age or illness, and would like to receive the Eucharist at home, should call the parish office to arrange a visit. Likewise, if you are being admitted to the hospital, and would like a visit, please call. Due to confidentiality reasons, hospitals no longer call the parish to inform us when parishioners are admitted.
It is in the simplest things we give that we best respond to Jesus’ call to discipleship. It is the love and compassion that triggers our spending time with a child that brings the reign of God to completion in our time and place. Christ calls us, as His disciples, to let go of our own wants and needs for the sake of those we love. To receive the prophet’s reward is to seek out every opportunity, to use every talent with which we have been blessed, to devote every resource at our disposal to make the love of God a living reality in every life we touch.
This week all three scripture readings illustrate the rewards that God offers for those who make worthy sacrifices. Jesus is very clear that our religion is not a hobby or a minor interest. It is a call to commitment. It is central to our identity as individuals and as a community. We do not live our faith by being religious in what we wear or what we say. Rather we live our faith in service of the Christ who came to serve us. In her autobiography, St. Therese of Lisieux (the Little Flower) wrote, "I have discovered my vocation, and my vocation is love.” St. Therese tells of another nun splashing water on her as they washed in side-by-side sinks. This annoyance she started to call a "new kind of Asperges," a sprinkling with blessed water! St. Therese began to cherish the traits of the nuns she lived with, to tolerate, and to love the uniqueness of the other nuns. That’s her "little way" of love, a way to get into heaven. Remember, "God is love" and we are made in the image of God. We are made to love, to give love, to receive love. Questions is: Where do we direct our love? Are we God-centered or self-centered? If we direct our love towards God, if we are God-centered, we love God and love our neighbor as ourselves. If we direct our love towards ourselves, we are self-centered, we become selfish, we think only of our selves. Life with God truly is better than life without God! When we center in God, because God is love, we give love to family and neighbor as if by second nature. What others call "loss," our self-sacrificing love gives us a life in all its richness and enjoyment. Loss becomes gain, God sends us the most delightful rewards. Rewards only God can give. Life with God is better than life without God! I wish you an enjoyable weekend and a truly blest and faith-filled week.

PRINCE OF PEACE REOPENING PLAN - PHASE II
We thank everyone for their patience as we move into our third week of Masses and activities. Please note changes below in our schedule.
Adoration and Private Prayer returns to Mondays - 45 minute intervals
Monday, June 29th from 5:00pm until 7:45pm - WITH RESERVATION SYSTEM
(5:00 - 5:45pm, 6:00 - 6:45pm & 7:00 - 7:45pm)
Sunday Mass
Next weekend, July 4th & 5th with our normal schedule:
5:00pm (Saturday, anticipatory), 7:30am, 9:30am, and 11:30am - WITH RESERVATION SYSTEM
Weekday Mass June 29 – July 3 at 8:00am - WITH RESERVATION SYSTEM
Reconciliation for the month of July will be by appointment
Please call the parish office & leave a message OR email Fr. Gerald [email protected] or Fr. John jhetland@princeofpeacecatholicchurch directly to make an appointment.
The Cardinal recognizes that many parishioners are concerned about their health, and may be reluctant
to gather for Mass, so, the dispensation from attending Mass is still in effect. Since parishioners are still dispensed from coming to Mass, we will continue to record the Sunday Mass and have it available on our website.
We will have to need to clean the church between Masses, so, we ask that parishioners exit the church building, to the parking lot, immediately after Mass so that this can be done.
We are using an online reservation system to monitor the number of individuals we can safely have in the church and maintain safe social distancing. If you are unable to access the reservation site by computer or cell phone, you can call the parish office and we will manually enter you into a time slot.
This sign up will be used for Reconciliation, Adoration/Prayer and Masses. We are asking everyone to use the reservation system which is available from the front page of our website (www.princeofpeacelv.org).
If individuals come without a reservation it may be necessary to turn parishioners away if the church gets too full. I ask that you please understand the situation and please do not be offended if this happens. Again, I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we reopen our doors.
Thank you for your cooperation as we have opened our church with these new protocols. It has been wonderful to see everyone again. We look forward to when all of us can join together around the Lord’s table. Father Gerald, your parish staff and volunteer team

Some Good News... Have you recently had a proud dad, proud mom or proud grandparent moment? Well, here at Prince of Peace, we recently had a very proud POP moment. Owen, current POP student, and Calvin and Biana, incoming POP students, decided to have a lemonade and ice cream stand last week. They worked extremely hard, making $60.00 in profits. Now, what to do with profits? I think you and I would both agree that most children might buy a toy or a non-essential item. No, not Owen, Calvin or Biana. They decided that they wanted to donate the $60.00 profit to their very own Prince of Peace School. Wow! How thoughtful and selfless. We couldn't be more proud! Way to go Owen, Calvin and Biana!

Weekend Stewardship Collection For the weekend of June 20-21, 2020
Total Envelopes $ 6,632.53
Electronic Giving $ 7,819.50
TOTAL COLLECTION $14,452.03
“...whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.” (Matthew 10:38)
Pope Benedicts XVI said, “The world offers you comfort. But you were not made for comfort, you were made for greatness.” “Comfort” puts me first. “Picking up your cross and following Jesus” puts God and others first.” Why settle for comfort when you can achieve greatness? Pick up your cross, ask Jesus for guidance on using your gifts and live the life God intended for you!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS CONTINUED TO SUPPORT OUR PARISH DURING OUR TIME AWAY FROM THE CHURCH. If you have liked the ease of giving electronically, please consider signing up to do this on a regular basis. You can sign up for a regular giving schedule through Give Central or fill out an “Electronic Giving” form and return it to the church.
There is a “Donate Now” button on our parish website that you can use for your Sunday donations (this connects you to GiveCentral.org). You can also sign up for continued Electronic Giving for your Sunday Stewardship contributions, either by
direct debit from your bank account or credit card, on a monthly or weekly basis. A form is available on the next page. After signing up, never worry about forgetting your envelope again! It continues your support to Prince of Peace when you are out of town, on vacation or unable to attend Mass.
Parishioners who donate electronically to the Sunday collection receive a quarterly envelope packet, which contains envelopes for any special collections (i.e. Sharing Parish, St. Vincent de Paul & Archdiocesan collections) rather than the full monthly packet you receive now. Providing you with this new quarterly packet results in a savings to the parish.
If you have any questions, please call the parish office (847-356-7915) or email our Business Manager, Barb Ruhl, at [email protected]. Thank you!
A big shout out and many thanks to parishioner, Pat McBrien, for making the beautiful wooden collection boxes for us to drop our envelopes in when we come to Mass! If you haven’t seen them, there is one at each of the exits from the sanctuary. Thank you Pat!

ELECTRONIC GIVING FORM
Our Electronic Giving program assures a continuation of your support even when you are not here. We encourage all of our parishioners to seriously consider utilizing this program. Most of us find that we attend Mass at parishes other than Prince of Peace during the year, related to vacations, family events, etc. We have received positive comments from parishioners who already utilize this program such as, “this makes it so much easier” and “I have peace of mind knowing that when I am out of town my obligations have been met.”
Direct debits and credit cards can be processed dependent on your preference. Please see below for options. If you require a different schedule please call Barb Ruhl, in the parish office.
I (we) hereby authorize Prince of Peace Church, to initiate debits to my (our) account as indicated below. I (we) authorize the financial institution below, to credit the amount of such entries to my (our) account. This authority is to remain in full force and effect until I (we) revoke the agreement. Any revocation is effective only after Prince of Peace Church has received notification from me (us) to terminate this agreement in such time and manner as to afford a reasonable opportunity to act upon the notice.

A Prayer for Vocations:
Heavenly Father, Your divine Son taught us to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into His vineyard.
We earnestly beg You to bless our Archdiocese and our world with many priests and religious men and women
who will love You fervently, and gladly and courageously spend their lives in service to Your Son’s Church under
the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We pray that their lives may be always centered on our Eucharistic Lord; that
they be always faithful to the Holy Father; and that they may be devoted sons and daughters of Mary, our
Mother, in making You known and loved; and that all may attain Heaven. Bless our families and our children and
choose from our homes those whom You desire for this holy work. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Brent Jablonski - Allstate Agent
The Lord patiently waits to hear about our joys and struggles. Set aside time to pray with your spouse for all your family’s intentions. “Call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” (Jeremiah 29:12)

Please inform the parish office of any additions to your family, changes in member status or address changes. All Catholic adults, 18 years old and no longer in school, who live within the parish area should register in their own name. Active and supporting membership includes offering one’s time, talent and treasure to assist in promoting the Gospel and the mission of Prince of Peace Parish. Please help us maintain our parish records by registering or
advising us of changes as soon as possible. Welcome to Prince of Peace! We are glad you are here!
Prince of Peace staff and the Communications Ministry frequently videotape or photograph participants enjoying programs, Masses and other events at our facility. These photographs are taken for use in parish publications, flyers, our website, brochures and future materials. All photos and videos taken on Prince of Peace property are for parish use and become the sole property of the parish. If you or a member of your family does not wish to be photographed, please contact the parish office.
PPC Liaisons to each of our parish
commissions are listed on the previous page.
