School Closure Daily Learning Plan: Reception Hello Reception For those of use who have been in school, it’s our last day today. Please make sure you send in a carrier bag to school so that we can send home your art work and exercise books. It’s Thursday today so that means it’s ‘tricky word day’. Spend some time today playing the ‘Tricky Word Trucks’ game on the phonics play website. The activity I’ve added is something you can print as large size and complete over the next few days, or print smaller. I have found an array of sea creatures each labelled with a number from 1-20. Have a go at putting them in order. Spend some quiet time today watching all the under the sea videos today to learn as much as you can about creatures under the sea. They come in all shapes, sizes and colours. Love and prayers to you all From Mrs Turley Week 13 – Thursday 9 th July 2020 Subject Area Task Phonics Tricky Words Now that we have now finished learning all the tricky words in Reception, we are now revising the tricky words from Phase 2, Phase 3 and Phase 4. This is the time to ensure your child confidently reads, spells and writes independently the words we have covered. Each week I will post a formal activity to help, but you can continue to use the tricky word songs, tricky word books, tricky word trucks game on phonics play, other tricky word games using the computer / tablets and spelling tests. Today is a review of the Phase 4 tricky words we have covered. Each page on the document below has a different word for your child to colour according to the coloured spot. You might like to print it in black and white and use felt tip pens to cover the spots before giving the page to your child. The document I’m attaching is rather large as each tricky word is on one page. You can either change the printer settings to print them smaller or focus on the words that your child is struggling with.

School Closure Daily Learning Plan: Reception

Hello Reception

For those of use who have been in school, it’s our last day today.

Love and prayers to you allFromMrs Turley

Phonics Tricky WordsNow that we have now finished learning all the tricky words in Reception, we are now revising the tricky words from Phase 2, Phase 3 and Phase 4.

Maths Sequencing Numbers to 20 – Under the Sea Creatureshttps://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/underwater-countingPlay the under the water counting game using the website above. It is numbers within 10, but will get the children’s brains focused on counting.

If you have access to a printer, print out the document below. Ask your child to cut each sea creature and stick them in order from 1-20.

If you don’t have access to a printer, play maths games with your child, look at the maths activities from the school closure page or play maths games from our class website https://www.st-annes.walsall.sch.uk/websites/.

Under The Sea Creatures – FactsWatch part or all of the videos ‘Under the Sea Creatures’, ‘The Science of Crabs’ & ‘All About Sea Turtles’ on the class webpage https://www.st-annes.walsall.sch.uk/video-clips-summer-2/. Spend some time learning to sing the 2 ‘Under the Sea’ songs from the class website https://st-annes-sutton-coldfield.secure-primarysite.net/video-clips-summer-2/.

Open the PowerPoint below and talk through some of the facts about the new sea creatures and see if your child can remember any about jellyfish, octopus and fish.

Documents on the website

Facts About CrabsFollowing watching the video ‘The Science of Crabs’, ask your child to say and write a sentence about a fact that they know about crabs. Write that sentence in your writing book or on the ‘Under the Sea Writing Page’ above. Remember to use duck fingers, use finger spaces and a full stop. Now draw a picture of a crab.

Facts About Sea TurtlesFollowing watching the video ‘All About Sea Turtles’ and ‘Sea Turtles Hatching’, ask your child to say and write a sentence about a fact that they know about Sea Turtles. Write that sentence in your writing book or on the ‘Under the Sea Writing Page’ above. Remember to use duck fingers, use finger spaces and a full stop. Now draw a picture of a sea turtles.

Facts About Sea CreaturesAsk your child to say a sentence of something they have learned and ask them to write it using a capital letter, finger spaces and a full stop. Can they write another? You might like to use the ‘Under the Sea’ writing page above, but you can use your writing book. Don’t forget to draw a picture to match your sentences.

Under the Sea I Spy GameShare the PowerPoint ‘Under the Sea – What Can I see?’ PowerPoint game from the class website (today’s documents). See if your child can guess what sea creature is being looked at. Share the facts with your child so they can learn some more about sea creatures. You might like to ask your child to complete the ‘Under the Sea – Read & Colour’.

Get Creative Spend some time over the next few days, making turtles, star fish or crabs. Ask your child if they have some ideas how they would like to make it. Draw? Colour? Paint? Collage? Junk model? I’m sure they will have their own ideas. I have added some ideas and colourings above.
