The project will seek to deliver mentoring support to over 250 entrepreneurs across the six transition countries – Jordan, Tunisia, Morocco, Libya, Egypt and Yemen. The SME mentoring initiative, which is called Forsa (‘opportunity’ in Arabic) will ‘help the G8 and regional partners to share expertise and nurture entrepreneurial skills in the Arab countries undergoing transition. Focusing on young and female entrepreneurs, Forsa will establish mentoring relationships between at least 250 entrepreneurs and business people from across the Deauville Partnership’, said Alistair Burt, UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office Minister for the Middle East and North Africa, who officially launched the FORSA project in Tunisia on 4 th June 2013. The Forsa SME mentoring initiative (www.forsa-mena.org) is designed to help catalyze economic development throughout the MENA region. Based upon Mowgli’s tried, tested and successful mentoring model, Forsa will recruit and match entrepreneurs with mentors from leading companies, from across the Deauville Partnership countries, for a 12 month period. The program will enable mentors to offer their practical support and share their expertise to help entrepreneurs grow as leaders, expand their businesses and create new jobs. Helen Al Uzaizi, Mowgli’s CEO commented: “We are thrilled to be part of the Forsa project. Our involvement in Forsa will significantly enable us to bring hope, aspiration and practical support to many more entrepreneurs and further place mentorship at the heart of supporting the MENA region’s entrepreneurship and leadership development. The purpose of thepartnership is to channel political and practical support to Arab Countries in Transition - Tunisia, Morocco,Libya, Egypt, Jordan and Yemen.
