Born on 24 April 1973 to a middle class family in Mumbai. Young Sachin later found his interest to become a fast bowler His height made him the finest batsmen in the world At the age of 10 he walked to the field First coach was Ramakanth Achrekar. Involved in an unbroken 664-run partnership in a Lord Harris Shield inter-school game in 1988 with friend and team mate Vinod Kambli, score unbeaten 336 runs at the age of 13

When he was young, Tendulkar would practice for

hours on end in the nets. If he became

exhausted, Achrekar would put a one-Rupee-coin

on the top of the stumps, and the bowler who

dismissed Tendulkar would get the coin. If

Tendulkar passed the whole session without

getting dismissed, the coach would give him the

coin. Tendulkar now considers the 13 coins he

won then as some of his most prized

possessions.[

Highlights of Tendulkar’s Test career include:

* Rated as the second best batsman of all time (next to Don Bradman) by Wisden [1][3]* Highest number of Test centuries (35), overtaking Sunil Gavaskar’s record (34) on 10 December 2005 vs Sri Lanka in Delhi.* Played in the highest number of Cricket Grounds – he has played Test Cricket on 52 different grounds, ahead of Azharuddin (48), Kapil Dev (47), Inzamam-ul-Haq (46) and Wasim Akram (45).* He is the fastest to score 10,000 runs in Test cricket history. He holds this record along with Brian Lara. Both of them achieved this feat in 195 innings.* Second Indian to make over 10,000 runs in Test matches.* Has 37 Test wickets (14 Dec 2005)

Business interests Numerous profitable business dealings in the past In 2006, he signed a contract with Saatchi and Saatchi's ICONIX values at 180 crores over three years. Tendulkar has opened two restaurants:Tendulkar’s’ (Colaba, Mumbai) and Sachin ‘s (Mulund, Mumbai) Sachin owns these restaurants in partnership with Sanjay Narang of Mars Restaurants. In 2007, Tendulkar also announced a JV with the Future Group and Manipal Group to launch healthcare and sports fitness products under the brand name 'S Drive and Sach’.
