SPRING 2016 THE LOREM IPSUMS

WOW Experience at Morristown Performing Arts Center!

We returned from spring break and hit the ground running! On Tuesday, we were off to MPAC to see the musical Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site! This play was based on the book of the same name that we enjoyed reading in class. It is the story of construction vehicles (crane, dump truck, bulldozer, cement mixer, and excavator), who work hard as a team throughout the day and then prepare for a hearty night’s sleep. The children were glued to the performance. There were lots of smiles and enthusiastic claps of appreciation throughout the show. Thanks to chaperones John Passanante and Ms Lorena!

What did you think of the show? Samar: I saw the funny thing and it was making me happy. The dump truck was not sleeping and really making noise. Ashlyn: It was so funny that the bulldozer truck was sleeping and the dump truck was crying! Pavit: It was so funny how they could skate! Garv: He (the crane) was picking up the beams. Leko: It was funny when they put all the dirt on the dump truck.

Celebration Preparation! The room was buzzing this week with Celebration preparations for Friday! We wrote our own invitations and gave a lot of thought as to what information our families would need to attend ie: date, time, location. We reviewed our work during these last weeks and created a check off list of the projects we wanted to share with our families. As the list continued to grow, the children, wide eyed and pride filled, began to comment: “That’s a lot of stuff!” We also decided to create a welcome sign so families would know where to go!

Eat The Earth In Two Bites! Of course a celebration is not a celebration unless there is food, so we made Earth Cookies! We used a simple sugar cookie recipe (see link below), divided the batch in half, and added blue and green food coloring to each half. Then we rolled a small amount of blue and green dough into a ball, and put them in the oven. Voila, Earth Cookies! We hope you enjoyed them!
