Vista 64 bit (Business\Ultimate)
• SPBU has decided to install Microsoft Vista 64 bit on all new business desktop and laptop systems.
• Windows XP is only 32 bit. Vista 64 bit doubles system capabilities, as 64 bits of data can be moved per CPU clock cycle. So better performance for applications.
• Vista business will be installed on desktops.• Vista Ultimate will be installed on laptops.
– Window Firewall (Inbound and outbound) Window XP only did inbound blocking.
– BitLocker (Full disk Encryption) not Single Sign On, but more user friendly
• Hardware restricted - requires TPM (Trusted Platform Module) cryptographic keys.
• Non compatible business applications – Virtual PC (Empower & Famis) • Currently 30 + devices (Desktops\laptops)
