Introduction
We are going to present a general overview of the Tudor dynasty and explain its presence in the English history for over more than one century.

House of Tudor
Royal house of Welsh origin.
Reigned from 1485 until 1603.
Rose to power after the Wars of the Roses between the houses of Lancaster and York.
Its emblem is a rose. It’s a rose made of two roses, one white, one red (York & Lancaster)
Five Tudor monarchs ruled the Kingdom.

Henry VII (22 August 1485- 21 April 1509)
First Tudor monarch.
His greatest achievement was restoring the nation’s finances.
He strengthened the judicial system.

Henry VIII (21 April 1509- 28 January 1547)
Separation from the Roman Catholic Church
Creation of the Anglican Church
He had six marriages and left 3 children

Edward VI (28 January 1547- 6 July 1553)
Due to his age (9 years old) his reign was characterised by turmoils between nobles to control the kingdom.
After his reign, his cousin Jane Grey became Queen but only for nine days (10 July 1553-19 July 1553).

Mary I (19 July 1553- 17 November 1558)
Restoration of Roman Catholicism
Almost 300 Protestant were executed, which gave her the nickname of “bloody Mary”.
