Dr Christopher CheokChairman

Dr Cheok is a Senior Consultant Psychiatrist at the Institute of MentalHealth. His past appointments include Clinical Director of theNational Addictions Management Service and Head of PsychologicalMedicine, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. His extensive experience andhigh standing in the field of psychological medicine helps us keep ourfinger on the pulse of national mental health issues, and our work intandem with the efforts of government and non-profit mental healthestablishments.

Mr Tan Peng ChinVice-Chairman

Peng Chin was the founder, managing director and consultant of TanPeng Chin LLC until his retirement in 2016. He has been, and still isthe independent director of several listed companies in Singaporeand overseas. He was a volunteer with the Christian Outreach to theHandicapped and the Roman Catholic Prison Ministry before startingClarity Singapore in October 2010. He was also a member of theNational Cancer Centre Singapore's Institutional Review Board.

Ms Belinda YoungCompany Secretary

Voluntary work is very familiar territory for Belinda, having offeredher services to a myriad of non-profit organizations for the past tenyears. With her extensive accounting experience with both corporateand small businesses here and in Asia, we can trust her to ensurethat Clarity’s accounting practices are in proper order.

Ms Denise Pang

After 15 years of corporate experience in Information Technologyand Consulting, Denise switched careers in 2008 to become aprofessional certified coach. She has worked with over 200individuals and their teams in middle to senior management levelson leadership, team performance and career development. Shebrings to the Board and our beneficiaries not only these skills, butalso her positive "can do" spirit.

Prof Philip Choo

Professor Choo is the Group Chief Executive Officer of NationalHealthcare Group. As one of the pioneers of geriatrics in Singapore,he has been pivotal in defining the standards of geriatric carenationwide. It is this pioneering spirit and steadfastness that hebrings with him to the Board.

Ms Cynthia Phua

Cynthia has over 30 years of experience in the real estate industry,and is instrumental in the expansion of NTUC FairPrice supermarketsand convenience stores. Having served Singapore as an electedMember of Parliament for 10 years, Cynthia brings her grassrootsinvolvement and experience to aid in our outreach to the people.

Mr Peter Lam

Principal and Chief Executive Officer of Temasek Polytechnic withover 10 years in the education sector, Peter has been involved instrategic planning and development of Universities and the SmartCampus Blue Print.

Mr Peter Chan

Peter is the founder and managing partner of Crest Capital Asia, andhas over 30 years of experience in investment management. He isalso a Fellow Member of both the Institute of Singapore CharteredAccountants as well as the Certified Public Accountants of Australia.

Mr Benjamin Yeo

A Senior Social Worker with numerous years of experience in themental health field, Benjamin has worked with various specialties atthe Institute of Mental Health, including at National AddictionsManagement Service, General Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic and Child& Adolescent Psychiatry.

Rev Fr Paul Staes, CICM

Father Paul served as a missionary priest for over 50 years in severalministries in different countries. Upon his arrival in Singapore, hisservice spanned 3 parishes – as Chaplin in Nanyang TechnologicalUniversity, Roman Catholic Prison Ministry and former chairman ofthe Archdiocesan Senate. He is currently the Rector of Congregationof the Immaculate Heart of Mary (CICM) District House.

Rev Dcn Clement Chen

Deacon Clement was Ordained a Permanent Deacon for the RomanCatholic Church by the Archdiocese of Oakland, California in theUnited States of America. In 2003, he was appointed by His Grace,Archbishop William Goh as the Archdiocesan Financial Administrator.He is also on the Board of Consultors and a permanent Advisor tothe Senate of Priests. He serves on the Board of Catholic Foundation,Caritas and ACMI Board of Trustees, Archdiocesan Land & PropertiesSingapore, Archdiocesan Commission for Diocesan-ReligiousPartnership, Archdiocesan Finance and Investment Committees.

Sr Linda Lizada,RC

Sister Linda belongs to the Religious of the Cenacle and has been areligious sister for the past 40 years. She had lived and worked inmany countries and her last posting was in Rome, serving as aCouncillor in her congregation Generalate for 12 years. Currentlybased in Singapore, she offers psychospiritual workshops, retreatsand provides supervision sessions for the Life Direction Team.

Clarity Singapore Limited was registered on 10 October 2010, World MentalHealth Day, to address the growing mental health issues in our community.

Commencing counselling services without an established office locationpresented challenges but were quickly overcome by generous support fromCaritas member organisations and churches. We are grateful to CatholicWelfare Services, Blessed Sacrament Church and Church of Our Lady Star ofthe Sea for offering office space from 2011 to 2013 which enabled us toserve persons with mental health issues.

Prior to our official opening,Clarity provided counsellingservices at office spaces fromCatholic Welfare Services (topleft), Blessed Sacrament Church(top right) and Church of OurLady Star of the Sea (bottom).

On 10 October 2013, with the blessingof Archbishop William Goh, ClaritySingapore opened its first office inYishun. Our presence in the Northernregion allowed us to work closely withKhoo Teck Puat Hospital and NeeSoon Group RepresentationConstituency, expanding our servicesto include psychoeducationalworkshops on mental wellness andmental health literacy.

In September 2015, we opened oursecond office in Agape Village,bringing our services closer toresidents living in the Central district.Utilising the resources available atAgape Village and Yishun, weconfidently looked ahead to grow oursocial mission and vision.

Agape Village, a Caritas one-stop help centre thatprovides integrated and holistic support under one roof

From 2016 to 2018, with a revamped website andnew media presence, services were developed toaddress the needs of youths aged between 18 to30 showing risks of mental illness, as well as towomen suffering from perinatal mood andanxiety disorders.

We launched our Youth Mental Health Initiativecalled “Your Empowered Self” or the YES! Initiativewhich provides early prevention, detection, andintervention through individual psychotherapyand our Better and Happier programmes tailoredfor youths.

We launched our Maternal Mental HealthInitiative and were blessed to be supported by MtAlvernia Hospital with our Maternal WellnessClinic, our satellite counselling centre locatedwithin the hospital premises at Level 1, MedicalCentre B.

To cater to the dynamic needs of thecommunity, we launched Singapore’s firstonline Cognitive Behaviour Therapy moodmanagement tool on 10 October 2018.Mindhealth@claritysg is an integrated onlineplatform where users complete onlineassignments, self-reflective journals and moodmanagement charts with support fromprofessional therapists. It offers an alternativeself-help avenue for persons suffering frommood disorders in the community who havedifficulties arranging centre-based counselling.

With God’s blessing, we have continued tocomfortably support our non-paying clientsthrough grants and generous public donations.To be accountable to our donors, we havemaintained strict Commissioner of Charitiesgovernance guidelines on Annual Reports,Financial Statements, Governance EvaluationChecklist and official online information.
