This workshop is dedicated to Carla Arpino.

Carla was a friend who loved to share with others her curiosity and her passion for science and medicine. She was also a scientist who had visions of how the research in child psychiatry should look like and how the clinical domain could be inspired by investigations on basic sciences. She strived to create a pathway to translate bench work from the lab to her daily medical activities, never tired to question herself and many others on uncountable problems that would have ultimately merged into a unified picture, that of a patient. Carla was an inspired mentor, whose goal was to promote and foster the career of young investigators who would have continued her work, and they will do so. The topics of this workshop are the final realization of many meetings and discussions that we had with Carla, when we were spending our time designing projects and trying to make sense of our observations. So, Carla is missed, but she lives in the memories of those whom she loved and in our common work that slowly realizes those ideas that we developed together.
