Tangerine trio

Tangerine is a Jazz trio born between Barcelona and Tangier. They have developed a personal approach to Jazz during the performances they have been making between 2011 and 2013 in Chellah club Tanger, and local clubs around the area of Barcelona. This approach has much influence of the European School of Henri Texier or Daniel Humair's jazz language, and different authors as Wes Montgomery, John Coltrane, John Scofield, Keith Jarrett, and so many others. Besides, their common contact with soma.planet, band that related to progressive and avant-garde music, gives Tangerine Trio's improvisation an extra touch of psicodelic Jazz.

Contact with Morocco; Tangier and the north of the country, has put them in touch with inevitably Maghrebi music, especially Gnawa Music. They have done several collaborations with musician and artist Mourad Belouadi, and put music to the film Le regarde aveugle , directed by Faysal Bentahar.

This contact with Morocco, so often given in many European players, Texier again one of them, or Joachim Kühn, makes even easier for gnawa music to melt with jazz, again also with Tangerine trio.

Nowadays, the musicians of Tangerine Trio are preparing their first album from the repertoire presented, as well as working with other featured performers.

Tangerine es un trío nacido entre Barcelona y Tanger. A partir de los directos que entre 2011 y 2013 han realizado en el Chellah club de Tanger, la formación ha adquirido una forma característica de abordar el jazz, que parte de la escuela de jazz europeo de Henri texier y del lenguaje de distintos autores como Wes Montgomery, John Coltrane, John Scofield o keith Jarrett entre otros

su conexión común con la psicodelia avant-garde y su participación en el proyecto Soma.Planet provocan una salida recurrente, dentro del contexto del Jazz, a otros lenguajes y paisajes.

El contacto con Marruecos y en especial con Tánger y el norte del país, les ha puesto en contacto de manera inevitable con la música Magrebí, en especial el Gnaoua. Han hecho distintas colaboraciones con el músico y artista Mourad Belouadi, y han puesto música al film Le regarde aveugle del cineasta Faysal Bentahar.

En la actualidad tangerine trio están preparando su primer trabajo discográfico a partir del repertorio que presentan, y trabajando en colaboración con otros artistas.

Manu Corbalan, guitar

Born in Mataro (Barcelona), 1981. Mainly self taught, and also learnt from many teachers, starting at age 10 with his brother Jose. Later he entered the jazz universe tought by Javier Juanco, and also flamenco guitar with maestro Juan Ramón Caro. He is lately also focused in world music and experimental.

Mataro, 1981. Guitarrista de formación principalmente autodidacta. A partir de los diez años empieza el aprendizaje del instrumento a cargo de su hermano José Corbalán. Más tarde se adentra en el mundo del jazz con el maestro Javier Juanco. . Recibe clases de guitarra flamenca del maestro Juan Ramón Caro. (Acompañante habitual de artistas como Miguel Poveda y Maite Martín) . Se interesa también por las músicas del mundo y experimentales.

Marc Prat, Contrabass

Born in Mataro (Barcelona) in 1971. Taught from several music professors from his hometown and India, Marc Prat has worked with many relevant artists of the catalan music scene such as Toti Soler, Marc Parrot, Lluis Llach, Didac Rocher, and others. He combines Tangerine trio with recordings mostly for catalan TV3 with Producciones Silvestres . Marc Prat has also built a career as a painter (Http://marcprat.com)

Nacido en Mataró (Barcelona), en 1971. Recibe formacion de diferentes profesores tanto en su entorno local como de musica hindu en Benares (India). Ha trabajado con reconocidos artistas de la escena musical catalana como Toti Soler, Marc Parrot, Lluis Llach, Didac Rocher, entre otros. Participa periódicamente en grabaciones para la televisión autonómica TV3. Marc prat combina su dedidación a la música con su carrera como artista plástico (Http://marcprat.com)

Fede Marsa, drums.

Born in Barcelona, 1973. Fede Studies his at Aula de Musica Moderna i Jazz. He has played in metal band Onassis Day, Proggressive soma.planet, jazz Tangerine trio, and rock with inside job and sindicato del riff. He has worked as a studio musician with singers and songwriters such as Enric Hernaez, Joan Baptista Humet, Francesc Guilera.... He has recorded with many of them, and combines this dedication with his recording Estudio Estudis Gaia.

Ha tocado con bandas como, Onassi's day, Soma planet, Tangerine, Inside job, Sindicato del riff.... y con cantautores como Enric Hernaez, Joan Baptista Humet, Francesc Guilera.... en casi todos ha grabado uno o mas cd.Trabaja como técnico musical en "Estudis Gaia" estudio de grabacion en el que es propietario.
