    Description: Oset style brochure

    Process (Programs, Tools, Skills):

I used InDesign to set up the pages and set up guides to where the

folds were. I found some pictures of people riding electric bikes on

the internet and used that as my cover picture and for the pictures

inside. I created a logo in Illustrator and wrote the body copy in

    Word.

I used Photoshop to cut out the picture of the battery and text wrap in

Indesign to get the text to wrap around the image. I also added to the

background in Photoshop for the back using the ll content property.

Message: The message is that electric bikes are the latest

improvement in bikes and they are for everyone.

Audience: Anyone who loves to ride bikes.

Top Thing Learned: I learned how to cut out images better in

Photoshop and use the content ll. I also learned how to use the text

    wrap in Indesign.

Color scheme and color names: Color scheme is complementary

and the colors are blue and tan.

    Description:

    Logo for an online business

    Process:

I created several dierent logos in Illustrator and then had several

people vote on which one they liked the best. I went further by

revising those logos, narrowing it down to three and took another

vote with those same 13 people. It was hard to choose which logo

to go with because when I counted my own vote it was a tie. I chose

the one that my sister liked best, since it is her company. I tried

several dierent fonts and styles until I decided on one that was bold

and easily readable. I adjusted the alignment and colors til it was

    how I wanted it.

    Programs/tools used: Adobe Illustrator

Message: A website of recipes for people suering from food

    allergies.

     Audience: Anyone with food allergies.

Top Things Learned: I learned to work with the pen tool and how to

save a jpeg for the web.

Color Scheme: Complimentary Color names: Red & Black

Font Name and Category: Rockwell - Slab Serif

Description: A webpage showing my logo creation

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): The part of this process

was to create the logo. I did this using the pen tool in

Illustrator. I took a picture of a recipe box that I had and used

that as my guide for drawing it.

Using a text editor (notpad++) I then added the logo to the

HTML code. I typed my message in the lists and paragraphs

and added a link to my blog.

Using CSS I styled the page, centering the logo and matching

the colors of the text and the heading background to my logo.

Message: The message is that this is a website to go to for

    recipes for allergy suerers.

Audience: The audience is anyone who is dealing with food

    allergies.

Top Thing Learned: How to nd the hex # of a color in

    Photoshop.

Color scheme and color hex(s): The color scheme is

    monochromatic. #AA3C39 and #801815

    Description:

A montage where 2 or more pictures are blended together in

    Photoshop with an inspirational message.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, Steps taken while designing):

I cropped the background image and adjusted the levels and

vibrance of it. I then opened a new window with Zack and adjusted

the levels and vibrance as well. I then cut him out of the image using

the lasso tool and placed him on top of the background photo. Using

the masking tool I tried to blend him into the background. I then

added a green rectangle to match the colors, made it translucent and

used the mask tool to blend the edges so that there were no sharp

edges. I added the inspirational text on top to nish it o.

Message: The message of the montage is one of the hope that I feel

that I will see my son again because of the atonement.

Audience: The audience would be anyone who has lost someone

and in need of an uplifting message.

Top Thing Learned: I am not familiar with Photoshop, so I learned a

lot. Everything that I did on this project was new to me.

Filter / Colorization used and where it was applied:

I tried to make the greens more vibrant.

    Description:

A full color ad for an event that will benet a good cause. This was

done with only a scanner and Word.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles):

I scanned the image in using an Epson scanner and imported it to

the word document. I then created the text boxes and placed them

on top of the image. I made the boxes on the right side and bottom

making sure to bleed them o the page. The focus of this ad is the art

followed by the title, “Art Show.” There is some very important white

space above the text on the left.

    Message:

The message of this event ad is that there will be a very interesting art

show which will include all dierent kinds of art. All the proceeds from

this show will go to benet Breast Cancer Awareness.

     Audience:

The audience is anyone who has a love of art or who might just want

    to support the cause.

    Color scheme and color names:

The color scheme monochromatic and the colors are the natural green

    colors of nature.

    Top Thing Learned:

I learned that you can do a lot more in Word than I ever thought

possible. I could design a project in Word in the future if I had to. I

also learned the dierent settings possible for scanning a picture.

    Description:

Black & White promotional ier to promote a graduate leadershipconference.

    Process:

I First brainstormed for ideas, then I sketched four ideas out on

paper. Then, using my sketch as a guide, I created a layout in

Adobe InDesign. I used used the triangle shapes for repetition and

aligned the logo with the picture and text box. The black and white

diagonal shapes oer contrast with the title and photo being the

focal point. I left white space and kept my body copy small. I was

given the image, logo, and content for this ier.

    Message:

I am trying to reach recent graduates, who want to becomeleaders, to inform them how this leadership conference will help

    them.

     Audience:

Recent graduates who are 22-30 years of age.

    Top thing learned:

I learned the importance of alignment and repetition in any design.

I also learned about fonts and how to kern between letters when

using all capital letters and use to dierent fonts that complement

    each other.

    Description:

Demonstrate the ability to take and then edit a good photo in

Photoshop. Incorporate a color scheme into the design from the

    photo.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles):

The rst step in the process was to decide on a color scheme. I

chose triad as the color scheme for my photo design. I then found

things that I could photograph using that color scheme and took them

outside for better lighting. I borrowed my nieces fancy cannon camera

to take the photo. I uploaded the photo into Photoshop and edited it

using levels, vibrance and selective color. After that, I proceeded to

cut the image out using the quick selection tool. I implemented the

colors into the design in the background, typography and line. Finally

I added the colors used in the triad at the top of the page with the

names of the colors inside of each patch.

    Message:

The message I chose to have was a book sale of unique hard to nd

    books.

     Audience:

The audience is collectors of books that are hard to nd or antiques.

    Top Thing Learned:

I have two top things I learned this week while doing this project. The

rst is the Photoshop editing tools including how to cut out a picture.

The second thing I learned is the importance of following the color

schemes. When following the scheme you don’t get an awkward oruncomfortable color mixed in that just doesn’t look quite right.

I borrowed my nieces fancy camera for this project since I don’t

have a camera and she helped me take the pictures I needed at herhouse. She had to help me adjust the focus ring to get the eects of

the focus in the foreground and the background. I enjoyed seeing all

the dierent things that can be done with a nice camera. I didn’t use

a ash for the pictures indoors so they have dierent feel and light to

    them.

Photoshop helped to make the houses in the top image brighter and

helped all the images to have better color. I should have taken the

last picture outside or closer to a window to get better lighting, but

the tools in Photoshop helped a lot.
