Project 1 - Interlock

Study Interlock Model

In this project, we were told to design our own “interlock” which is consisted of only three objects with different functions. The three objects are the board, the sheet and a dowel. Along with our own designs, we also have to interpret the definition of each functioning aspects of our interlock.

Final Interlock Model

My final model is not too different from my study model, the shape remains the same except I decided to make the dowel in a shape of a “T” instead of an “L”. Also, the sheet has a block near the end so that the dowel will act as the final object to complete the interlock based on gravity, obstruction and friction.

Project 2 - Body Support

Study Body Support Model

The goal of this project is to create a body support based on our interlock. My study model was not all at successful since I felt that the way the interlock is supposed to rely on gravity is lost. I had to figure out a way to use the body to associate with the main properties of the interlock.

Final Body Support

Same principles applied from my study model except the boards are cut 73 degrees including the two sides and the space for the sheet. The body support now relies on the weight at the center to stand.

Project 3 - Aedicule

Study Aedicule Models

This project is also based on our interlock except we can be more creative and use varieties of interlocks as long as the principles of our interlock doesn’tget lost. I admired the concept of columns when it comes to aedicules becausethey define the boundaries and space at the same time.
