Announcing a revolutionary breakthrough in spring technology!Announcing a revolutionary breakthrough in spring technology!

LeeP is Lee Spring’s response to increased requests for

springs that combine the strength of metal with the special

attributes of high performing engineered thermoplastics.

After years of extensive engineering design and materials

research, Lee Spring’s technical team has developed this

unique compression spring offering.

LeeP springs are fabricated in distinctive formulations

of Ultem* PEI resins, the material of choice for meeting

LeeP’s specified criteria.

LeeP Plastic Composite Springs are stocked in a variety

of standard sizes, each available in a “rainbow” of

strengths formulated from different Ultem* resins. The si

increasing strengths are easily identifiable by distinct

colors: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Violet. Le

Spring has the advanced technology to provide Custom

LeeP Compression Springs to meet the most exacting

specifications.

LeeP Springs are designed to meet a wide range of springapplications where non-corroding, non-metallic, inert materialspreferred. These include:

• Medical products and processing equipment

• Pharmaceutical delivery devices

• Imaging and X-Ray equipment

• Food processing and packaging equipment

• Aerospace products

• Marine products

• Electronics and electrical equipment

• Water Purification systems

• Chemical environments

• Automotive interiors

• Pollution Control systems

• Semi-conductors

• Instrumentation• Communication devices

• Cosmetics packaging equipment

LeeP™ Springs offer many advantages including:

• Unique patented designs to maximize spring rates and cycle life,

while minimizing solid height• High strength to weight ratios that optimize performance while

reducing mass• Excellent stability of physical and mechanical properties at elevated

temperatures up to 340° F• High corrosion resistance and generally compatible with many

chemicals including strong acids, weak bases, aromatics, andketones

• Non-magnetic material does not interfere with imaging and otherFerro-sensitive technologies

• Dielectric insulating material suitable for non-conductiveapplications

• Inert non-contaminating plastic composite protects product purity

• Low flammability and toxicity ensuring environmental safety• Recyclable and compliant with most Global regulations

including RoHS and REACH

LeeP ™  PLASTIC COMPOSITE SPRINGS

Background

The properties of the spring material in many critical applicationsfrequently include specific requirements beyond load bearing capability.

Material specifications may require chemical resistance, non-magnetism,physical stability at elevated temperatures, lightness (weight), non-conductivity, and recyclability. A variety of metal alloys have been usedto meet these secondary requirements with varying degrees of success.

Customers have increasingly requested springs meeting one or more ofthese requirements, citing specifications most often found in ‘space age’inert materials. This led Lee Spring’s technical team to research designsand materials that combine the strength of metal with the specialcharacteristics of high performance plastics.

Why LeeP ™  Springs?

LeeP™ Plastic Composite compression springs are designed to performunder load with minimum side thrust. The innovative design results in ahigh strength to weight ratio through efficient use of material; they are

manufactured efficiently by means of injection molding. LeeP springsare fabricated in distinctive formulations of Ultem* PEI resins in sixincreasing color coded strengths: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue andViolet, with Violet being the strongest. Ultem resins were selected asLee’s material of choice meeting LeeP performance criteria.

Offering:

• Six color coded strengths for ease of identification: Red,Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Violet (weakest to strongest).

• Designs to fit in standard hole sizes from 0.375” to 1.000”with free lengths from 0.375” to 1.250”.

• Different sizes can be stacked and/or nested to get variedlengths and spring rates.(Note: A flat plastic washer could be used between springs while stackingfor better performance).
