Note: Full payment of Sanctuary fees are due 30 days prior to the scheduled wedding date. Fees for optional services are due on day of wedding paid to applicable individuals.

Cancellation of appointments and/or meetings must be made 24 hours in advance to avoid additional fees.

Wedding Fees

ReceptionsThe Fellowship Hall may be rented for a reception after your wedding. The fee for the Fellowship Hall is $100 plus applicable fees. If you are interested in renting the Fellowship Hall, please contact the church office.

Where are we located? Fleming Island UMC is located on Hwy 17 South of Orange Park and north of Green Cove Springs. If you are traveling on I-295, you will take exit 10 on FL-15 S/US-17 S/Park Ave. Merge onto FL-15 S/US-17 S/Park Ave. Travel south on Park Ave/Hwy 17 approximately 9 miles. FIUMC is located on the right as you travel south.

A Greeting from Fleming Island UMC:At FIUMC, we consider it a holy privilege to be part of the celebration of marriage. The service of Christian marriage is a worship experience. This booklet is to help familiarize you and your family with the wedding policies of Fleming Island UMC. Please read through it carefully before scheduling your wedding. Any questions regarding policy in this booklet, or for more information, contact the church at 904-284-3366.

Reserving Church FacilitiesYou may reserve church facilities for your wedding u p t o 1 2 m o n t h s in advance. The church will be opened two hours prior to the wedding. During this time your florist will be able to set up your flowers and your photographer may take as many photographs as you would like.

Weddings may be scheduled for Saturdays or most Sunday's after 1pm, the facilities are unavailable the weekend adjacent to the following holidays: Holy Week, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Spring Break, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas. If a weekday is requested please discuss with the Pastor or church office to determine availability. Other weekends may also be unavailable at the discretion of the Pastor.

A security deposit of $100 will be required before the date can be reserved. This fee is not a portion of the sanctuary fee and is refundable, except in the case of damage to church property, extra cleaning, or if the wedding is canceled less than 30 days prior to scheduled date.

RehearsalsRehearsals are normally scheduled the evening before the wedding. Those participating in the wedding service must attend. Rehearsals start on time and are limited to one hour. It is the obligation of the bride and groom to make sure that members of the wedding party are familiar with church policies.

Dressing Rooms

Dressing rooms will be provided for the bride, groom, and their wedding parties. It is the responsibility of the bride and groom to make sure arrangements are made for the care of personal property left in such rooms before, during and after the ceremony. The church is not responsible for personal items left in the building.

PhotographyPhotographs may be taken either before or after the wedding. However, no flash pictures are permitted during the ceremony. Light video recording may be made of the service after consulting with your wedding coordinator.

Alcoholic Beverages and TobaccoAlcoholic beverages are not allowed on church property. The minister may refuse to perform a ceremony in which any member of the wedding party is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Also, please note that FIUMC is a tobacco-free facility.

Decorations & Facilities PoliciesBy arrangements with the wedding coordinator the sanctuary may be made available for decoration prior to the wedding. Attachment devices for decorations which will mar the woodwork and church furniture are not permitted. Vases containing liquids must have appropriate pads placed under them to prevent stains or discoloration to tables, carpets or other furnishings. Attachments to chairs or other woodwork for holding flowers or other decorations are to be covered with fabric or similar protective materials to prevent damage or scratching of furniture. Candles are only permitted on the chancel area. Flower girls may drop real flower petals if floor runner is used; silk flowers are preferred. Please let the church know in advance if you will leave flowers to be used by the church. Unless previous arrangements are made, the florist or family should remove all decorations immediately following the wedding.

Usage of rice, confetti or fireworks is not allowed in or around church property.

Selection of MusicIf you desire p i a n o o r organ music at your ceremony there is an additional fee of $75.00 or you may provide your own. A copy of the music selection needs to be provided at least 2 weeks in advance of the rehearsal date. Music should be appropriate and is subject to approval by the Pastor.

Wedding CoordinatorOnce you decide to have your wedding in our facility, you will be working with a wedding coordinator who will be your liaison with FlUMC. Your coordinator will be present, and will direct the rehearsal and facilitate the wedding. The fee for this service covers 4 hours and is included in the sanctuary fee.

Officiating MinisterGuest ministers are welcome to preside over weddings, with approval of Fleming Island UMC’s Pastor. Assistance by a member of the church’s clergy is required if the guest minister is not an ordained United Methodist minister.

Premarital CounselingAs stated in The Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church, all couples are required to receive premarital counseling. If a minister at FIUMC is assisting in your wedding, the first counseling session should be held within thirty days of booking your wedding. If another minister is providing counseling, then counseling will not be required here.

Marriage LicenseFor weddings performed at this church, the marriage license may be obtained in any county in the state of Florida and is only valid for 60 days after being issued. A marriage license is not valid until 72 hours after the date of issue unless you have completed the Florida pre-martial course. Please give the marriage license to the wedding coordinator at the rehearsal. The church office will return the license to the County Clerk.
