PBL REWARD—IN THE OFFICE WITH MRS SCULLY I was waiting at the office for about 2-3 minutes. Suddenly Mrs Scully (the Principal) came!! First we went around telling kids to “go to class!” It was sooo fun! Then we handed out some awards to three students. After that we put some school bags and school stationery into boxes for Glen Innes High School students because of the bushfires. My favourite part was telling Mrs Holt to “Get to work!” It was AWESOME! Megan -Year 4
STAFF WELLBEING WEEK This week is staff wellbeing week at Ashtonfield Public School and the staff have fun activities planned to participate in together to continue to build teams and maintain relation-ships. Our staff go above and beyond for our students, from making sure that they are there to greet the students in the morning, to have someone to care for them during the day whilst planning interesting and fun les-sons. Ashtonfield Public School stu-dents are an extension to our own families and we do our very best every day to meet the needs of eve-ry child in our care. Please join me in taking the time to thank our teachers and staff members for their exceptional work educating and caring for your children.

Year 5 students and parents attended a Presentation and Information Session ad-dressed by Shaye Bourke from the Children’s University last Thursday. She gave an over view of what the Childrens’ University is, how students can get involved and the type of activities that can be included in a student’s learning journey.
This included students being involved in sports clubs, museums, galleries, and special groups. Children’s Uni-versity has a strong emphasis on experience as a significant learning tool, acknowledging the value of the range of different learning experiences and environments in which children engage outside of the school.
Children’s University is child led, meaning that children choose what activities they would like to participate in, and participation occurs on a voluntary basis. Once enrolled, students will be issued with a Passport to Learning in which the hours of validated activity are record-ed. Once they have reached the required num-ber of hours children will graduate from the Children’s University. Certificates are present-ed at graduation ceremonies held once a year at the University of Newcastle.
Those students who wish to enrol in the pro-
gram will need to have their application to the
School Front Office by this Friday 13th March.
