Discover the highlights through the lens of your camera! Explore the bustling colonial city of Lima and delight in the cuisine. Experience Peru’s folklore capital, Puno and participate in a home stay on the edge of Lake Titicaca and a visit to the floating Uros Islands. Wander Cuzco’s cobblestone streets before discovering the Sacred Valley on your way to Ccaccaccollo, a women’s weaving collective. Finally, find yourself at the awe-inspiring “Lost City” of Machu Picchu.

This photo tour is an ideal match for people who love to take photos and who love to travel. You may be a beginner with an SLR camera that has never been off of automatic, or a seasoned, self-taught amateur photographer. No matter what your skill level, you are sure to take away great new skills, adventure and experiences from Shari’s hands-on teaching approach and from being immersed in the beautiful Peruvian culture. Learn during interactive, hands on workshops, discuss during photo slide shows and practice your new skills so that you can use them when you return home!

Shari Tucker is a Halifax-based photographer who has run a successful photography business since 2003. Her travels have taken her to Peru, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, the Dominican Republic, Bermuda, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Cuba, St. Pierre & Miquelon, Mexico, USA, Germany and Poland. After the successful 2012 Peru Through the Lens, Shari is thrilled to be hosting another photography adventure, April 6 – 20, 2013.

DAY 3 - Lima / Juliaca(1 breakfast)Transfer from your hotel to the Lima airport where you will fly to Juliaca then take a short bus ride to Puno, on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Afternoon at leisure.Overnight - Hotel Balsa Inn or similar

DAY 4 - Puno(1 breakfast)Free day to enjoy Puno. 6:00pm photo talk and optional group dinner.Overnight - Hotel Balsa Inn or similar

DAY 5-7 - Lake Titicaca (3 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners) Explore the islands of Lake Titicaca spending 2 nights with a local family. Learn about photographing people during a hands-on, two-hour photo workshop and then practice your skills at leisure in the community. DAY 8 - Sacred Valley(1 breakfast)Today enjoy a full day guided tour with our local guide through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. An important source of food for the Inca, the Sacred Valley is a lush agricultural region that continues to supply the city of Cuzco with much of its produce. Visit the impressive Pisac ruins and the women’s weaving community of Ccaccaccollo high up in the Andes mountains.Overnight - Hotel Prisma or similar

DAY 9 - Cuzco(1 breakfast)Spend the day exploring Cuzco. Meet at 4:30pm for a 3 hour photo workshop.Overnight - Hotel Prisma or similar

DAY 10 - Cuzco(1 breakfast)Today you have a unique opportunity to visit and participate in a special portrait project, photographing children at the House of the People of the Sun. The house acts as a haven for 80 children and adolescents who live in extreme poverty. Children are given the opportunity to drop-in to receive help with homework, a warm meal, and participate in classes and workshops that teach them valuable skills, including jewelry making, leather working, sewing, cooking, music and English. This is sure to be one of the highlights of your tour.Overnight - Hotel Tikawasi Valle or similar

DAY 11 - Sacred Valley / Aguas Calientes(1 breakfast)Travel to Ollantayambo to enjoy an optional visit to a large Incan ruin site or the colorful artisan markets (time permitting), before boarding an afternoon train to Aguas Calientes.Overnight - Hotel Pachacutek or similar

DAY 12 - Machu Picchu(1 breakfast)Take an early morning bus (approx 5:15am) to Machu Picchu and explore the site with a guide. 7:00pm photo talk and optional group dinner.Overnight - Hotel Pachacutek or similar

DAY 13 - Machu Picchu (1 breakfast)You have the option to visit Machu Picchu in the morning (at additional cost). Return to Cuzco by train.Overnight - Hotel Prisma or similar
