Fencing
Congratulations to Sam McLellan (S4), who has been selected for the GB fencing squad in his first season at cadet (U’17)
level. Sam competed in Meylan, France in October and in December he competed at the Scottish Schools Individual Fencing
Championships. Sam won the U’16 event to become the U’16 Sabre champion for the 2nd year in a row.
Ultimate Frisbee
Pupils in action during the Monday night after-school club. We are looking for more players to come along to the
club. No experience is necessary, just turn up and bring some friends.

Community Sports Leaders
Well done to the senior pupils who gave up a week of their October holidays to undertake the Community Sports Leader
Award with Miss Cook. Pupils also did Positive Coaching Scotland training and the Cricket Leaders Award. Perth High pupils
Megan Fletcher (S5), Megan Roberts (S5), Jamie Johnston (S5) and David Thomson (S5) were joined by St John’s Academy
pupils Niall Martin, Jordan McKay and Hannah Johnson.

Cricket Leaders
Pupils from Perth High School and St John’s Academy did their Cricket Leaders Course during the first week of the October
holidays. The course was delivered by James Ross and Peter Ross from Live Active Leisure.
Basketball
Perth High’s S1/S2 team did well at the Perth
and Kinross tournament in Bell’s in October.
The team finished 3rd overall. Well done to all
who took part.
Midlands Hockey
A fantastic action shot of Jamie Blaikie (S5) playing for the U’18 Midlands squad in Glasgow. The squad went on to win the
event in Glasgow in September. Jamie Johnson is also pictured below in the team photograph. Pictures are courtesy of

Hockey
Pictured below are the Senior Hockey squad who were participating in the first inter-school event at NICC in September.
Many of the players are looking forward to their Hockey tour to Barcelona in June 2016.

Climbing Club
The climbing club is open to all pupils and takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunchtimes and after school. If
you would like to take part please see Mrs Duthie in room G26 to book your session.
Scottish Schools Tennis

Taekwondo
Congratulations to Robyn Lennon (S5) who won 3 gold medals in the British Championships as well as 2 gold and 1 silver
medals in the Chang Ung Cup World Championships. Robyn also earned the Junior female overall champion at the same event.
Perth Taekwondo Club have selected Robyn as their student of the year. Robyn has since received her International School Tie.
Fencing
Rory McLellan (S1), has begun competing this year in fencing competitions. In the Scottish Schools Individual Fencing
Championships Rory was runner-up in the U’14 event. A fantastic achievement, well done Rory.

Fletcher (S5), U’16 Mixed Doubles runners up. Marcus Weir (S1) and Finlay Bayer were U’14 Boys Doubles runners up.

Cycling
Congratulations to Amber King (S5), who has recently been selected to represent Team GB in the Junior Sprint Squad for
2015/2016. Amber is the 1st Scottish female to be selected for this squad and will compete in Holland in January. Amber is
pictured below at the Sainsbury’s School Games in the wind up laps for her flying 200, in which she won a silver medal.
Another silver medal was won with her team mate in the Team Sprint event. Amber also recently won a Perth & Kinross
Council Spirit of Youth Award for her achievements this year. Keep up the good work Amber!
Perth & Kinross Recreational Volleyball League
One of the three Perth High School volleyball teams who take part in the recreational volleyball league at Bell’s Sports Centre
on Sunday evenings.
British Schools Gymnastics Heats
Perth High School had 2 teams competing
in the heats in Haddington in December.
The U’14 Girls team won a gold medal and
have qualified for the British Schools
Gymnastics Finals in May 2016 in Stoke-
On-Trent. The team are: Connie Drew (S1),
Ailie Kinnear (S2), Ellie Magee (S2), Victoria
Mathieson (S1) & Maisie Jackson (S2).
U’19 Mixed Team
The U’19 mixed team won a silver medal
at the event and the team are: Krzysztof-
Cameron Black (S2), Ciaran Jardine (S2),
Katie Gregory (S3), Charlotte Cobb (S3) &
Iona Jackson (S3). Iona Jackson (far right)
also won best floor, vault and best overall
performance at U’19 mixed level.
Ellie Magee (S2) won the best vault and
overall performance at U’14 level.
Curling
Matthew McKenzie (S3) and Duncan McFadzean (S5) were part of Team Kinnear who won the Stevenson Trophy in Lockerbie.
Both players won the first 2 Asham U’17 slam events which had 24 teams from all over Scotland competing in each event.
They also went on to win the Perth Open in December. Also pictured are the 3 Perth High School teams who were taking part
in the Hay Trophy at Dewars, Perth in December.

Other News
Cycling – Congratulations to Grant Martin (S6) who became the U’18 Road Cycling Champion in July.
Curling – Leeanne McKenzie (S5) won the 3rd U’17 slam at Greenacres. Leeanne is also 1st reserve for the Youth Olympic
Games in Lillihammer in February 2016.
Cyclocross – Ross McGuire (S1) has won the Cyclocross Scottish Bike Championships in December. Well done Rory!
Karate – Adam Shedlock (S2) won a Kumite (sparring) Bronze medal at the Scottish Open Karate Championships in November.
