Research shows that periodontal infection is linked topotential increased risk of heart attack or stroke as wellas diabetes, low birth weights and premature birth.

Pathogens travel via the bloodstream to the organsand throughout the body. The increased risk of heartattack and stroke is due to the inflammatory processthat occurs.

Until recently, it has been relatively difficult to detect the

activity of the bacteria and the pathogens they produce that

lead to periodontal infection. Most tests currently are predictive

and not definitive.

Tests have involved salivary samples being taken and sent to

a laboratory, which takes time and can be relatively expensive

and results in multiple patient visits.

Often the test results can only identify the problem AFTER

the periodontal disease has actually started to develop and

this means corrective treatments may need to be more intensive

and for a longer period.

Periopruv is the world’s first‘Point of Care’ test of its typewhich can give results in between

5-10mins.

In VivoInduced Antigen Technology

Using patented technology, a sample of saliva is taken on anabsorbent sampler. This is then transferred to a PerioPruvlateral flow immunoassay test cartridge which will detect theantibodies produced in the presence of the two key bacteriaAggregatibacter Actinomycetemcomitans (Aa) andPorphyromonas Gingivalis(Pg). It can do this before they leadto serious infection.

Necessary treatment can be prescribed to create a healthieroral environment.

As part of a regular check up, Periopruv can give you andyour patients peace of mind that their oral hygiene andin turn, their overall oral health is good.

Periopruv is a natural diagnosis system as it only detects thebody’s natural defence mechanisms. If the body is not underattack from the bacterial pathogens that cause periodontitisit simply will not produce the proteins in any high levels tobe detected by Periopruv.

1. Place Saliva Sampler(A) under tongue forapproximately 30-60seconds to collect saliva.

3. Squeeze saliva intoCollection Vial (C).

2. Remove plunger fromSyringe (B) and insertthe saliva sampler intothe syringe.

5. Place Test Cassette(E) on a flat surface.Transfer the saliva tothe sampler well bysqueezing the pipettebulb.

7. Allow 10 minutes forresults. Comparethe test cassette TestLine to the CassetteScore ComparisonChart (G).

6. Add 4 drops of WashBuffer (F) into thecassette sampler well.

4. Place the collectionvial on a flat levelsurface. Squeeze thebulb on the top ofthe Pipette (D) beforeinserting into thecollection vial. Whilesqueezed, insert thepipette into thecollection vial. Makesure the end of thepipette is at the bottomof the vial. Release thepressure on the bulb,allowing the saliva toflow up into the pipette.
