PreludeWelcome+ Confession and Forgiveness using Psalm 130

Today we echo the words of the ancient psalmist in Psalm 130, crying out in confession, listening in silence.

Out of the depths  I cry to you, O Lord; O Lord, hear my voice!  Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.

Silence If you were to keep watch over sins,  O Lord, who could stand? Yet with you is forgiveness,  in order that you may be feared.

Silence

Page 3: Pentecost 10:00 a.m. After

I wait for you, O Lord; my soul waits;  in your word is my hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than those who keep watch for the morning,  more than those who keep watch for the morning.

Silence O Israel, wait for the Lord, for with the Lord there is steadfast love;  with the Lord there is plenteous redemption. For the Lord shall redeem Israel  from all their sins.

They heard the sound of the Lord God walkingin the garden at the time of the evening breeze, and the man and his wife hid themselves fromthe presence of the Lord God among the trees ofthe garden.

But the Lord God called to the man, and said tohim, “Where are you?” He said, “I heard thesound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

He said, “Who told you that you were naked?Have you eaten from the tree of which Icommanded you not to eat?” The man said,“The woman whom you gave to be with me, shegave me fruit from the tree, and I ate.” Then theLord God said to the woman, “What is this thatyou have done?” The woman said, “The serpenttricked me, and I ate.”

The Lord God said to the serpent, “Because youhave done this, cursed are you among all animalsand among all wild creatures; upon your bellyyou shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of

Dios el Señor dijo entonces a la serpiente: «Porcausa de lo que has hecho, ¡maldita serás entretodos los animales tanto domésticos comosalvajes! Te arrastrarás sobre tu vientre, y comerás

+ Gospel Reading - Mark 3:20-35The holy gospel according to Mark, the third chapter.Glory to you, O Lord.

[Jesus went home;] and the crowd came togetheragain, so that they could not even eat. When hisfamily heard it, they went out to restrain him, forpeople were saying, “He has gone out of hismind.” And the scribes who came down fromJerusalem said, “He has Beelzebul, and by theruler of the demons he casts out demons.” Andhe called them to him, and spoke to them inparables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? If akingdom is divided against itself, that kingdomcannot stand. And if a house is divided againstitself, that house will not be able to stand. And ifSatan has risen up against himself and is divided,he cannot stand, but his end has come. But noone can enter a strong man’s house and plunder

his property without rst tying up the strongman; then indeed the house can be plundered.

“Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven for theirsins and whatever blasphemies they utter; butwhoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit cannever have forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternalsin”— for they had said, “He has an uncleanspirit.”

Then his mother and his brothers came; andstanding outside, they sent to him and calledhim. A crowd was sitting around him; and theysaid to him, “Your mother and your brothers andsisters are outside, asking for you.” And hereplied, “Who are my mother and my brothers?”And looking at those who sat around him, hesaid, “Here are my mother and my brothers!Whoever does the will of God is my brother andsister and mother.”

PresentationAddress and Questions

A reading from Luke: Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed meto bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery ofsight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Luke4:18-19)

A reading from First Corinthians: There are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there arevarieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same Godwho activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for thecommon good. (1 Corinthians 12:4-7)

A reading from Second Corinthians: The love of Christ urges us on, because we are convinced thatone has died for all; therefore all have died. And he died for all, so that those who live might liveno longer for themselves, but for him who died and was raised for them. From now on, therefore,we regard no one from a human point of view; even though we once knew Christ from a humanpoint of view, we know him no longer in that way. So if anyone is in Christ, there is a newcreation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! (2 Corinthians 5:14-17)

Giving of a Stole

Charge

Hear the words of the apostles: Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness.Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called. (1 Timothy6:11-12)

And again: Think of us in this way, as servants of Christ and stewards of God’s mysteries. Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy. (1 Corinthians 4:1-2)

Page 10: Pentecost 10:00 a.m. After

And again: Rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of hands. Hold tothe standard of sound teaching that you have heard, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.Guard the good treasure entrusted to you, with the help of the Holy Spirit living in us. Be strong inthe grace that is in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 1:6, 13-14; 2:1)

Dan, care for God’s people, bear their burdens, and do not betray their condence.Serve the needy, care for the sick, comfort the distressed, and, through words and actions, witness faithfully to God’s love for all people.Cross every barrier that stands between the church and its ministry in the world.Seek out those places where the gospel of Jesus Christ meets the world’s need.Empower, equip, and support all the baptized in the ministry of Jesus Christ.Lead us all in proclaiming the gospelin word and song, in witness and service. And be of good courage, for God has called you,and your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
