The world is full of information

Our reality, just a small distorted slice

Page 4: Patterns of Interest - ISWAR Seoul 2010

So what's different about AR?

Page 5: Patterns of Interest - ISWAR Seoul 2010

I have a long list of what AR is NOT!

Page 6: Patterns of Interest - ISWAR Seoul 2010

And AR is not just about Points!

Page 7: Patterns of Interest - ISWAR Seoul 2010

AR is Digital Sensory Perception

Sharing information in new ways

Page 9: Patterns of Interest - ISWAR Seoul 2010

Our senses spot interesting patterns

Identify things that are important

Page 11: Patterns of Interest - ISWAR Seoul 2010

We can sense what's happening

Page 12: Patterns of Interest - ISWAR Seoul 2010

Even project them into the future

Page 13: Patterns of Interest - ISWAR Seoul 2010

This triggers new thoughts & actions

Page 15: Patterns of Interest - ISWAR Seoul 2010

But a flood of new sensors is coming

Page 16: Patterns of Interest - ISWAR Seoul 2010

The camera is leading the way

Page 17: Patterns of Interest - ISWAR Seoul 2010

Now we are all live sensor streams

Sensors on the local device

Sensors that are not on the device

The network doesn't care where!

Our things are all starting to talk

Users need more power and control

A way to manage this web of things

AR is Digital Sensory Perception

This will unlock magical new ideas

Page 30: Patterns of Interest - ISWAR Seoul 2010

Oh yeah! Like what?If the GPS lat/lon on my phone is outside my office location then load the addresses for my next few meetings and display them as Points of Interest.

If the time is between 8am & 9am and the GPS lat/lon on my phone is approaching my office then display my schedule for the day on my phone.

If the GPS lat/lon on my phone is beyond 100km away from my home and/or wife's GPS lat/lon then load a persistent compass that shows where home is.

Plus lots more involving proximity sensors, accelerometers, multi-camera vision, GPSes, compasses...many more dynamic new ideas that nobody has even thought of yet...
